The door opened and a human walked in. Janus watched it with narrow yet curious eyes as they stopped in front of his cage. There was a click and vine barrier was swung away so the human had full access to Janus' cage. Janus felt his fur rise on his back and his whiskers twitched as he narrowed his eyes even more. The human made some cooing sounds at him before placing something inside the cage. They then shut the shiny vines and left the room, shutting the door behind them. Janus cautiously looked down at the thing placed into his cage and immediately dove at it, curling his body around the lump and grooming the hell out of it.

The thing was indeed Virgil and he looked to be better the last time Janus saw him, his white spots now visible and, surprisingly, his eyes open though they still had the blue kit film to them so he wouldn't know the actual eye color until he was even older. That didn't stop Janus from grooming every inch of Virgil's black and white pelt. He only stopped when he heard a tiny voice squeak to him.

"Papa no!"

Janus looked down at Virgil who was squirming in his grasp.

"Virgil?" Janus said with a questioning tone.

The small tom looked up at him with round eyes before mewing again.

"Papa I don't want to be groomed again. I'm hungry and the people gave me bad tasting stuff to eat," he mewed while squirming past Janus' thick furred white chest and over his legs.

"O-okay Virgil. Come eat then," Janus said, laying down on his side.

Virgil stood, stood, on wobbly little paws and stumbled over to Janus side, eagerly beginning to nurse. Janus watched the black kit the whole time and decided when time was up, gently pushing Virgil away when he was done.

"Hey Janus, is this your kit?" he heard Tipsy ask from behind him.

Virgil popped his head up at the new voice and he crawled over Janus legs to peer curiously at Tipsy. His eyes were wide with kitten curiosity as he looked at the white she-cat, his small head tilted to the side. Tipsy herself was looking at at Virgil with a small smile gracing her muzzle and her eyes twinkling.

"Hello there little one. I hear your name is Virgil. My name is Tipsy and I've been having a lovely conversation with your dad," the white female said with a gleam in her eyes.

"Really? What did you talk bout?" Virgil asked.

"Well we just spoke about our lives, how we got here and how we're doing," explained Tipsy.

"Yes. Tipsy here is a house cat that hurt her leg, but is getting help from the people here," Janus agreed.

"Are you going to stay here with us?" Virgil asked, resting his white chin on the silver vines.

"For a little while yes, but I will have to go home with my two humans eventually," Tipsy said.

"What're your humans like?" Virgil asked, his short black tail twitching back and forth.

"Well there are two of them and I've learned that they don't have genders or are nonbinary. There's also another other house cat I see sometimes named Cosmic Charle along with their dog Spinner. My humans' names are Joan and Talyn, but they have several friends that like to come over and play. Oh goodness that one male, Thomas, must be worried. Thomas is one of my humans' friends and he enjoys coming over to play with us. He's a real animal lover and I heard he's looking for some cats to adopt," Tipsy rambled.

The three passed their time with Virgil asking question after question and Tipsy patiently answering all of his questions. Virgil eventually fell asleep, his body curled up between Janus' front legs and his head resting on Janus' left paw. Janus and Tipsy continued chatting for a bit, but they both ended rather quickly as they were both tired. He laid his head down next to Virgil, careful to not hit the kit with the Cone of Shame™ on his neck and fell asleep knowing his kit was next to him.
