I hold the cup of tea in my hand. "I'm sorry to come here like this. I hope I didn't disturb you."
She's been staring at me for the past minutes, smiling. "of course not jimin...I'm happy to see you."
I answer with a smile. "thank you...were you close with my mom?"
She nods, her smiling fading a bit. "the closest I've been to a friend all my life. We understood each other so easily...she...she took a part me, going like that."
she wipes the tear that found its way down her face. "how can I help you jimin?"
I take a sip of my tea to get calm. "I had some questions and I've been told you know the answers."
She nods furiously. "of course. What do you wish to know?"
I gulp, looking down at my hands. "what do you know...about my father?"
She's a little taken aback. "your father?" she sighs. "his name was Namjoon. He was seven years older than us at the time. Your mom sneaked out to see him when we were eighteen, close to graduation. I think...I think they really loved each other."
My heart skips a beat and I put the cup down before my shaking hand causes an accident.
"then what happened? Why did she..."
She looks down at the cookies she brought. "I'm sorry I'm talking about this so bluntly but I think you should know. at first, Namjoon kept his distance cause your mom was a minor after all but shortly after we graduated, I think they...well, they had sex."
I'm blushing and don't know why she should talk about this. She chuckles weakly at my face. "I wanted you to know that your father was a gentleman. He respected your mother in the two years they dated like I've never seen a man do." she smiles like she's seeing something I'm not. "they were one of those couples who make you wanna feel something like what they had. they had nothing but it was like they had everything..."
she sighs and her smile soon fades. "The only problem was that they couldn't tell your grandparents about it...Namjoon had served time in prison and didn't even finish high school. He barely lived with doing any part-time job he could get his hands on. They planned for Eunha to finish college and find a job so they could move in with each other, without your grandpa's help and afterward tell everyone but..."
A few more tears come down her face. My heart is beating rapidly. I have a feeling I know what...who exactly shattered this beautiful image.
She continues shakily. "your mom got pregnant and didn't know what to do. Abortion wasn't legal then and she was only finishing the first year, nearly 19 years old. Namjoon told her that he would work extra shifts to take care of her and the baby but Eunha was scared. She decided to stay at home as long as she can and sell her jewelry to afford their rent but your grandfather found out. I don't know the detail but he didn't approve of their relationship. He got rid of namjoon by setting him up. He put drugs in his bag and called the police on him. I was there when they arrested him. He had gone to prison for having his father's drugs in possession when eighteen so this time he got a long sentence. Eunha was also locked up and I couldn't reach her."
I'm slowly starting to black out from the shock...so he didn't leave mom?
She wipes her face with her sleeves and sniffs. "I don't know what they told her but your aunt bora told me she committed suicide after she only held you once in her arms. I wish I could be with her...maybe if I tried harder I could convince her...convince her to stay with you."
By now I'm sobbing quietly. What did kwang do? How could he do this to his own daughter?!
My head is throbbing and I feel too cold. I hear distant knockings at the door and jihyun calling my name, worried. Everything turns black.
hi! does anyone even read this? :))
please take suicide seriously. if it's yourself, ask for help. if it's someone around you don't take it simply because there's a chance you'll regret it forever.
also, I'm warning you again. there are explicit scenes of rape and sexual harassment in this story so be careful, please!
