Your POV

It was December 24th, but these Hephaestus kids were working away at Bunker 9. They had an impossible deadline to meet, so I help out whenever I can.

Poor Hephaestus kids. Some of them wanted to spend the holidays with their families, but they wouldn't have families to go home to if they can't finish this damn ship by the summer solstice.

I couldn't stand looking at there sad faces. As much as they needed to get this done, they also needed a boost to cheer them up.

I met with Annabeth and Chiron at the Big House. I asked Chiron if we could send the Hephaestus kids home, at least just for Christmas eve until midnight on December 25. I knew we had an impossible deadline, but I figured they might work more effectively if they had a boost in morale.

Chiron considered this offer. It was just for a day, after all. And morale was already pretty low. Some of them were moving sluggishly or accidentally falling asleep over blueprints. They needed a break.

Annabeth calculated the date when this project would be finished. She said at the rate they were moving, we were already in a pinch. Maybe a morale boost could help. If the Athena cabin helped out, they could finish a few days earlier.

Chiron then nodded. He agreed to let cabin 9 spend Christmas at home.

The three of us headed to Bunker 9 to tell them the good news. They all cheered. Some shed tears of joy. This project was really taking a toll on them.

They packed up and Chiron requested for special transportation.

I made my way to the Poseidon cabin. I was packing up, ready to go to Brooklyn House for the holidays, when it hit me.

Oh gods. Leo has no where to go.

Once I made my decision to stay, I received a message from Carter on my scrying bowl I kept at the back corner of the cabin.

"'Sup bro," I said as I looked into my bowl. The oil in my bowl complemented Carter's deep complexion.

"Look, sis," he said sadly. "I don't know how to tell you this."

My heart sank. "Oh my gods, who killed Sadie?"

"What? Oh no! No. She's fine. She's just packing because, well..."

"Come on, Carter," I coaxed. "Just tell me."

"Dad invited us to the Hall of Judgement. Just a small Christmas dinner..." He paused for a while. I narrowed my eyes at him until he gave me more details, "...with mom."

I glared at him. I knew he was holding something back. I heard Sadie yell in the background. "Just bloody tell her, Carter!"
