Leo's POV

"Hey, Guppy!" (Y/n) looked towards my direction as I ran up to her. She was setting up the firewood as I got marshmallows from the camp store. It was our first anniversary as a couple, and we were celebrating it by the beach. (Y/n) showed me her favorite spot, which was a pile of rocks just at the foot of a cliff at the west side of the beach. The biggest rock was flat, which was perfect for sitting on. The waves crashed against the rocks, lightly spraying us with water. It looked out over the sea, giving us the perfect view of the sunset. This spot was low, meaning it was hidden during high tides. That also meant some sea creatures and plants made a hoke out of the rocks. Small corals and sea shells were embedded in the rocks. Small fish swam in and out of the crevices. Moss grew on some areas, and unfortunately for me, I slipped on one of those areas.

Thankfully, I missed the rocks, but I fell face first into the water. I heard (y/n) laugh at me before she dove in to help me up. When we resurfaced, she continued to laugh at me. I rolled my eyes at her and cut her off with a kiss. It wasn't to hard, but it was long and sweet. Her lips tasted like saltwater. We pulled away and swam to the shore. We sat down on a blanket with a few pillows. I got the fire started as she opened the bag of marshmallows.

"Good thing the marshmallows are safe," she said.

"How about good thing my boyfriend is safe and I love him so much?" I said as I looked at her with puppy eyes. She hit me with a pillow and started to roast some marshmallows. I shook my head at her antics.

"So," she said, "don't get mad. I know we said no gifts, but I saw something when I was walking around dad's underwater garden and it really reminded me of you so... Here you go."

She took out a rock from her bag and handed it to me. It was a bit smaller than me palm, just the right size and heaviness for a paper weight. The bottom was a flat black rock, but it was embedded with orange sea shells of different shades. Some shells curved upward, and against the sunset, it looked like it was on fire.

"Thanks, (y/n)," I said as I wrapped an arm around her and kissed her cheek. "I love you. Happy anniversary."

"I love you, too, Leo. Happy anniversary."

I looked at her as she continued to munch on marshmallows. The sunset cast an orange glow against her skin. The sea glowed orange against the sun's rays. I took out the polaroid camera from her bag and took a photo of this picture perfect moment.

Once the film developed, I placed the photo in between the shells on the rock she gave me. It looked amazing.

"You really are something, Valdez," she said. "You see things in a way others don't see."

"Which is?" I asked.

She shrugged as she roasted another marshmallow. "That's just another pebble in my dad's garden but now that I see it, it makes an awesome picture frame."

"Speaking of picture frames," I added, "I also got you a gift."

I handed her a seashell-shaped locket I made out of spare celestial bronze. It opened to show a picture Piper took of us on the Argo II. We were dancing under the stars in our pyjamas on the deck. That was the time Percy and Annabeth fell into Tartarus. (Y/n) knocked on my door sobbing. For years, the three of them have done almost everything together. Her brother and her best friend falling to literal hell was hard for her, to say the least. I took her in my arms and lead her to the deck for a breath of fresh air. I hugged her tight and we soon began to sway as I hummed a tune. That was the night I swore I would never leave her side, and that I would always love her no matter what. Piper couldn't sleep that night, so she went up and saw us, hence the picture.
