Okay I have to get something off my chest and I need y'all's opinion because I've been freaking out about this for weeks now:
Do y'all think that Tower of Nero is the last of the series?
And by last of the series I mean last of everything?
Like, no more next books about these demigods. No more camp half-blood and camp jupiter. No more of the seven. No more BOOKS?
Because let's be honest, with TLO and BoO there is some tension that still needs to be resolved and I'm not talking about the prophecies. I'm talking about the characters. Sure they saved the world but what about their normal lives? Those books don't mention anything about the achieving that.
But in the ToA series, we see the seven + other characters part ways.
Jason was born a hero and leader and his character was not perceived in any other way. Therefore, his ending was death—his story ended the way he was born.
Piper is going back to learn her roots in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Leo is finally not the seventh wheel and is happy with Calypso in Indiana.
Hazel and Frank broke free from their curses and they are now praetors of New Rome.
Reyna and Thalia are hunters of Artemis. Reyna is finally happy and free of her curse.
Nico and Will. Need I say more?
Apollo is finally learning what it's like to be human.
The root problem since the first series—i.e. triumvirate holdings—is finally coming to an end.
I guess Percy and Annabeth are the only ones who need a resolution but things were pretty much resolved in the second series. For once, they weren't the ones who bore all the weight of the world. In fact, in uncle Rick's website, he just uploaded an outtake where he explained that BoO went back to the POVs of Jason, Piper and Leo because that's how the series started (read the outtake it's short and holds a lot of feels). Percy and Annabeth had to step back and let other heroes shine. So things were pretty much resolved, so I'm not expecting a Percabeth cameo with Apollo.
I don't know guys, but it's getting pretty scary. All the characters are parting ways and they're happy. The world may be safe already. Maybe this is when we truly say, "For once, I didn't look back."
I'm happy for them but at the same time it makes me cry. All this nostalgia is too much. I grew up with all of the Riordanverse books and it feels like if it ends, my childhood truly has ended.
What do you guys think? Am I the only one thinking this? Are you as nervous as me about the Tower of Nero? Are y'all hoping for another series? Are y'all not ready to say goodbye?
Please let me know in the comments below.
P.S. This is the reason why I started this book, because I had a feeling that this would all be ending soon and I'm not ready to say goodbye.
