Your POV
It's been a week since we've escaped from Tartarus. I leaned against the railing as I stared at the fields of Greece below us. A few buildings rose along the hillsides. The wind rushed past my face, hair blown back.
I couldn't help but admire the small things as I stared at the the passing towns with sunlight shining on my face. Ever since Tartarus, I realized how much I've taken life for granted. And this is coming from someone who's been to both the Greek and Egyptian underworlds multiple times. Tartarus was just a whole different level of existential crisis. And this is even coming from someone who was almost sucked into the Sea of Chaos and survived the Land of Demons.
I was doing better, and so were Annabeth and Percy, but we weren't close to healed. I'm pretty sure we won't be the same after that experience, but we'll do our best. After all, we've got our friends with us.
Leo seemed to be on edge today. Like, more than usual. He was always jittery, even by demigod standards, but I could tell he was uneasy. He leaned on the railing beside me but he avoided my gaze.
"Alright," I finally said. "What's wrong?"
He looked at me for a moment, then he looked away again. I gently pushed his face to meet my gaze.
"Tell me," I commanded.
He sighed deeply and wrapped his arm around me.
"It feels wrong to tell you," he said, "but it also feels wrong to just let it slide."
"Then just tell me," I said gently. "Then we'll decide whether it was wrong or not."
He inhaled sharply and looked down at the towns. "When you were in Tartarus, Khione attacked our ship. And... I don't know how to explain this but I was separated and somehow I got marooned on this island... I really don't know how but—"
"You got separated from the group when Khione attacked your ship and you washed ashore on an island called Ogygia and met the goddess, Calypso?" I completed for him.
He looked at me stunned. "H-How did you—"
"It happened to Percy," I said, "about two years ago. It was a few days before the Battle of the Labyrinth. We met your dad and he asked me and Percy to check out his forge in Mount St. Helens. It was occupied by monsters at the time. Long story short, somethings went wrong. I was able to escape before the volcano erupted but Percy was blown away. We thought he was dead, but he returned to camp a few days later then he told us what happened."
"Right," he said. He didn't say anything else, but he was being awfully silent. Maybe he was thinking of what to say next? I wasn't sure.
"Leo," I said. "You're making me nervous."
He looked at me sadly. "It's just... It seems so unfair. I thought part of your deal with the gods was that they should free Calypso?"
"How did you know that?" I asked.
"Because Calypso said that that's what Percy promised." He seemed to be angrier now. I know, I know. It was part of the deal that Percy had made with the gods. I knew it was wrong of us to leave her there. Honestly, I've already forgotten about that part. I should have felt guilty. Instead, I felt frustrated at Leo.
