Just yesterday, a mother and her son were killed by police officer Jonel Nuezca (in Tarlac, if I am not mistaken). Sonya and Frank Gregorio (mother and son) were brutally killed by a policeman. Sources say that Frank got into an argument with the policeman. The daughter of the policeman was around to film it, but then she reminded her father that he was a policeman and he can kill them. The mother, Sonya Gregorio, was shot first. Sonya was already old and trying to stop her son from fighting. Frank Gregorio was shot next.

This is not the first time that the police abused their power. Extra judicial killings were already happening since 2016 due to Duterte's "war on drugs" which actually just enables to police to kill whomever they want, and even plant evidence. I already know of at least one person who was stopped by police and asked to hold a baggie. He, of course, refused, and he is still incarcerated. The president also authorizes the police to incarcerate and/or kill those who do not follow quarantine protocols (leading to more abuse of power) instead of focusing efforts for healthcare.

Police brutalities have worsened because they have been given more power during this pandemic. Please, help our country. Help us spread this news. Help spread the awareness.

The killings of Sonya and Frank Gregorio are just the tip of the iceberg. Many indigenous peoples and tribes have already been killed. Lumad (indigenous group from Mindanao) schools have been shut down. Many more have been killed without fair trial.

As much as the rest of the world cared for USA when their police force was murdering innocent people, I hope that the rest of the world cares as much for us as well. Please don't think that police brutality is only happening in the USA. It's been happening here in the Philippines for a LONG time and it has worsened in 2016, and now in 2020.
