Gangs. Something that Shawn had gotten himself into at a young age of 17. With his father being a gang leader of the most prestigious and high standard gangs. That was until he died, he was shot right in the chest in the middle of a cold blooded street fight. Shawn was smart enough to know that during that time, alleys were the safest places to be.
Camila Cabello was the complete opposite of any type of person that'd be apart of a gang. She was sweet and loving. The purest of hearts. Straight A's her whole life and a full scholarship to the school she wanted to get into most.
She'd met Shawn in an alley. Weird, she knows. But she was close to being attacked by some men that wanted all that she had, including her own body. Luckily, Shawn had come to her rescue and ever since, they've been together.
She hated that he was in a gang. The thought of him getting hurt at any moment effected her deeply. He knew that and he felt horrible. He'd truly fallen for the small Cuban. She captured his cold heart as if it was so simple, for her it was. She showed him how to love and if Shawn was being honest, he only ever loved her.
—
"Camila," a deep voice groaned through her phone, she was at home, snuggled up in one of his t-shirts with the fire on as it rained heavily in New York. She knew the voice wasn't Shawn but she also knew it was one of his closest friends and fellow gang members, "what is it Connor?" She knew it wasn't good. He wouldn't just call her for no reason if it didn't involve Shawn.
He hesitated and Camila wasn't having it, "goddammit! Just tell me!" She practically growled through the phone, she wasn't a harsh human but Shawn was everything to her, no matter who he associated with. "He, h-he was shot. They got the bullet out but he's in a coma right now-" she ended the call, she couldn't listen any longer. She had to see him.
—
"Oh my god," her voice was shaky as she broke down next to the man that was next to her, looking so lifeless. "They say that he won't wake up for awhile," Connor sighed, a tear falling from his face. Camila looked up at him for a second before looking down at Shawn and gripping his hand, tightly. "He can hear us but he can't move - I'll let you have a moment, once again, I'm so sorry, Mila." Connor walked out, clearly defeated.
"Shawn, babe, how could you do this to yourself? If only you had just left the gang like you should've. I miss you already and I just got here. I need you here with me. I need you to be there to protect me, to hold me when it's cold - when it's not. To watch the silliest movies with me, to kiss me, and to just, just love me." A tear fell onto his hand as she placed her forehead against his strong hand.
"Please, come back to me." She whispered.
—
A year, it's been a year and she had completely and utterly given up on the hope that he'd wake up. After her outbreak on the nurses and doctors in the hospital, she wasn't welcomed back. Who knew people in New York were so harsh? Camila certainly didn't. Connor shut down, completely. He wouldn't return any of Camila's calls or texts and it killed her that she had no idea what was going on. Was he alive? Is he awake? She didn't know.
The park was where she went to clear her mind. No one knew that besides Shawn. She had taken him there and ever since, it's been their place. It's where they declared their love for each other and it's where they shared many memories. "Here all alone?" That voice, it was all too familiar.
She shot her head towards the voice and the gasp that came out of her mouth was shaky. He was here, standing before her. "Oh my god," she whispered, running to him and wrapping him into her embrace. It felt so good to have him hug her. She felt at home.
The embrace felt like hours but she pulled away, still holding onto each other. She swatted at his shoulder before starting to scold him, "don't do shit like that! You scared me shitless!" She screamed at him but even Shawn knew that she wasn't that mad at him.
"I'm sorry, baby." He had a smile tugging on his lips at her reaction. "Shawn, you don't get how scared I was. I thought you would die and for what? A stupid gang? You knew how I felt about the gang and you knew my worst fear was for you to get hurt!" She sobbed, shoving her face into his chest as he circled his hands around her lower back to calm her down, it always worked - even now.
"I'm not in a gang anymore, we can do whatever the hell we want, babe, we can go on a vacation!" He picked her up, finally kissing her, he's waited to damn long for this. "Promise me that you'll never, ever leave me." She brushed her lips against his, "I promise to never, ever leave you. I love you too much to do that."
