There was a spot in the small town that Camila lived in that she loved so much. It was on the dock that was only a few blocks away from her house. It was her favourite spot that no one knew about besides her. That spot, her father, before he died, was the one that showed her it when she was very young. Ever since then, she'd come everyday after school and sometimes, she'd sneak out late at night without her mother knowing.
But now, she was sixteen and her mother now knew that she was attached to the spot and there was no way to tell her to not go out so late or so early in the morning.
To Camila, it was a safe zone and it had the most beautiful view with the sunrise coming up right above the most blue, glistering water. It truly was the most gorgeous thing Camila has ever seen.
This morning was no different. It was about 4:58 in the morning and Camila had just arrived to her most treasured spot. Although, this morning was the start of the day that Camila dread the most. This marks the third year for the death of Alejandro Cabello. The man that first loved her and the man that helped her through her hardest times. His death damaged Camila's heart but she knew she had to stay strong for her mama and her little sister. Which she did most definitely well.
Her spot was an escape from all things sad and difficult.Camila sat on the dock with her knees hugged tightly to her chest with her AirPods in as she listened to a calming song by the Wallows but it was on full blast in order to push everything else away. The sun was just rising and Camila didn't care all too much to snap a picture because she wanted it to just be engraved in her mind, overclouding the bad memories.
"Cause we could stay at home and watch the sunset,"
She hummed the tune quietly, licking her finger to turn the page of one of her hopeless romantic books that she had much of a passion for.
"That song...I love that song." An unfamiliar voice was heard from behind her. It caused her to jump, ripping an AirPod out of her ear to look over her shoulder to see a guy, around her age with very curly hair. She didn't notice how attractive he was until she looked back at him after closing up her book.
The song continued to play from the other AirPod that was in her ear.
"But I can't help from asking, "are you bored yet?"
"Umm...yeah. I love the Wallows." She chuckled, softly, looking down at her well lit phone. "I'm Shawn...by the way." He extended his hand out which she gladly took. He shuffled, taking the seat beside her. "Camila."
"So, do you come here often?" He looked towards the array of fresh colours that painted the sky. She looked over to him, "ever since I was little...my dad showed me this place." She smiled at the memory.
They spent hours sitting there and talking and Camila forgot about her worries and problems that she had to deal with. She even felt comfortable enough to tell him all of these things and he was the most comforting and caring about her situation.
"Feels like I've known you my whole life,"
Truly, it did. Almost everyday, they met up at the spot and listened to the Wallows and just talked. They got to know one another.
"I can see right through your lies,"
Camila
Are you up???Shawn
Yeah. You okay?Camila
I'm fine.Shawn
No, you're not. Meet me at the spot in 10 minutes.
Read 4:02 AM"Now-" he took a seat next to her, bringing her body closer to his. "-tell me what's up." He kissed her head, something he's grown accustomed to since the year they've met.
She sighed, a tear falling from her cheek but Shawn swiftly swiped it away with his thumb."I just...miss my dad." He nodded, hugging her even tighter. He could sense that something else was wrong, "that's not all, though...come on, you can tell me." He kissed her cheek, rummaging his hands through her locks as she stroked his arm. She sighed, exasperatedly, "I don't know...it's hard to feel loved when...the one person that showed it most is just...gone." She whispered and it broke Shawn's heart to hear. "I love you, you know?" He laughed, pathetically. She smiled, widely, suddenly the spark of happiness in her eye reappeared.
Shawn meant what he said when he said he loves her but he also meant that he was in love with her. She didn't seem to take it that way, though.
"Cause we could stay at home and watch the sunset,"
The song started to play as Shawn brought her to the dock but this time, it was the sunset and he put out a blanket and snacks for them. It had fairy lights wrapping the border of the dock that shimmered as the light hit the water.
"But I can't help from asking, are you bored yet?"
He gestured for her to sit down and Shawn was way too nervous that even Camila could sense it. "What's wrong?" She asked around a bite of her banana. Shawn's head snapped towards her and Camila could see that he was looking at her a new way. Not a bad way, just a new way.
To Shawn, he was looking at her with the most love and admiration towards her. He was so in love with her. He fell in love with his best friend and he had no idea how much longer he could hold it in.
"And if you're feeling lonely, you should tell me,"
The song played quietly in the background as Shawn leaned in and connected their lips. The butterflies in Camila's stomach kickstarted and she felt the most giddy. He was gentle and slow. She tangled her hands in his hair as he kept one hand securing the side of her neck and the other circling her waist.
They pulled away, not wanting to but kept their foreheads pressed against each other's. "Camila...I'm so in love with you."
"Feels like I've known you my whole life,"
Shawn smiled widely at that part of the song, "see? Like that song...I feel like I've known you my whole life." She threw her head back in laughter before reconnecting their lips.
Before going any further, she pulled away to say, "I'm in love with you too."
Instead of watching the sunrise that day, they watched the sunset until the sky was pitch black and the only thing illuminating it was the beautiful stars that Camila loved to stare at.
They were so in love and they couldn't help but thank the dock and the sunrise for bringing the two together.
A/n
Alexa play, "are you bored yet?" By the Wallows.
