Nate taps me on the shoulder. Everyone was in the same simple outfit, jeans, combat boots, and a black dress shirt, except for me. I was in a dark blue shirt, black leggings, and tennis shoes. "What's up Nate?" I ask. He gives me a mask. It's the same beak one from Branded. "Thanks!" I exclaims. Everyone else had a simple masquerade mask, in their color choice, because we wanted to be secretive. Nate helps me put it on, and I run backstage. "Everyone, let's go over the dance from Branded quickly." I say. After a few questions about my mask, we quickly do the moves, clapping and stomping, even jumping in the air and landing on our stomachs. "Veronica, you remember the beginning lines?" I ask. "Sure do!" She says. "Who has the curtain to cover me so I can get on the tower?" I ask. Olivia has it. Okay. Everyone gets in their places, some kids grabbing the instrument. The curtains were closed, and the track started. I walked out, and hear gasps. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls." I start. Veronica comes out. "Gather Round, Gather Round!" She says, smiling. "Sit back, relax, and please, stay in your seats." I say, and glance over at Veronica. "Kick your feet up and grab some popcorn!" She says. "Oh, and of course." "Oh, ho, ho, lest we not forget!" She says. We both nod. "Enjoy the show." We say. The curtains draw back, Olivia hides me from everyone's view, and I glitch on top of the tower.

"Come one, come all and behold, we have a sight
Immeasurable, a spectacle of innocence and fright
Oh, maybe two, three, four even five long nights
Now your crawling, even stalling with no end in sight
Up all night to see if you can make it
All new friends to see if you can take it
Be still, be quiet, they still know you haven't left yet

And we'll pretend, we'll just pretend
Pretend that day would never end
I'll make believe that you can see everything they did to me
Nowhere to hide and now we're through
But if we were just like you
I'll be your friend, I'll be your friend
You can trust me til the end

There's something bad inside me
I'm broken beyond fixing, save me
I know that we've all been here
It only hurts a second, there's nothing to fear!
I have you hidden way to well, it's time to let you out
Put on a mask to hide yourself, that made you one of us now

And we'll pretend, we'll just pretend
Pretend that day would never end
I'll make believe that you can see everything they did to me
Nowhere to hide and now we're through
But if we were just like you
I'll be your friend, I'll be your friend
You can trust me til the end

We need you so we can escape
If they find you, it'll be to late
We need you so we can escape
If they find you, it'll be to late

And we'll pretend, we'll just pretend
Pretend that day would never end
I'll make believe that you can see everything they did to me
Nowhere to hide and now we're through
But if we were just like you
I'll be your friend, I'll be your friend
You can trust me til the end

Now we're afraid, we're all afraid
Afraid that it might be to late
They never learn to wait their turn
Now, we get to watch them burn
Nowhere to hide and now we're through
But if we were just like you
I'll be your friend, I'll be your friend
You can trust me til the end..."

We get an applause, and I smile. "Get to your places everyone!" I shout. The girls, besides the ones playing their instruments, get to the floor, and our track starts. They do their dance, and I see Nate in the back give me a thumbs up. I smile, and start.

"Any day I think I'm gonna break now...

I'm hearing voices in my head
And everything they said
It's never making any sense
I got a burning in my heart
It's tearing me apart
Somebody call the doctor

Hey, I think I'm loosing my mind now
Having trouble finding a way out
Shined so bright, this star's gonna burn out
I take and don't know how to give

You know I never mean well
I can't help but help myself
Been placed right under the spell
The mirror shows somebody else
Fat stacks and hybrid cars
They don't take you very far
Branded with dollar-sign shaped scars
We're in a special kind of hell

Any day I think I'm gonna break now

It's like a monster in the night
It's giving me a fright
I'm battling a gluten-free fight
Is it a city or a sin?
Oh when did I begin?
Somebody call the doctor

Hey, I think I'm loosing my mind now
Having trouble finding a way out
Shined so bright, this star's gonna burn out
I take and don't know how to give

You know I never mean well
I can't help but help myself
Been placed right under the spell
The mirror shows somebody else
Fat stacks and hybrid cars
They don't take you very far
Branded with dollar-sign shaped scars
We're in a special kind of hell

Learning how to sink before I take the time to swim
A map that only shows me where I am not where I've been
The California sun incinerated who I am

You know I never mean well
I can't help but help myself
Been placed right under the spell
The mirror shows somebody else
Fat stacks and hybrid cars
They don't take you very far
Branded with dollar-sign shaped scars
We're in a special kind of hell

(Hey, I think I'm loosing my mind now)
You know I never mean well
I can't help but help myself
(Having trouble finding a way out)
Been placed right under the spell
The mirror shows somebody else
(Shine so bright the star's gonna burn out)
Fat stacks and hybrid cars
They don't take you very far
(I take and don't know how to give)
Branded with dollar-sign shaped scars
We're in a special kind of hell

Any day I think I'm gonna break now...
Any day I think I'm gonna break now..."

I finally finish, and the crowd cheers. Nate starts a chant saying 'unmask.' Everyone but me unmasks themselves, and the chant changes to 'Pillar Girl.' I jump off the back, hear a few gasps, and walk out fine. I pull Coach off to the back of the stage, staying hidden. I take off my mask, and ask her how I look. "Contacts are in, makeup is all set. Your good." She says. I smell smoke, and hear screams. I grab a microphone and tell everyone to get out.
