All About Timing

Chapter 11

Tucking in my button down shirt into my khaki jeans, I slipped on my dark brown boots before fixing my hair and dropping a few drops of contact solution into my eyes.

I looked myself over, feeling satisfied with my choice of shirt which happens to be a white button down with small black sharks all over.

Giving myself a nod, I walked out into the front room where Ali and Syd currently were.

"Whoa, look at you girl!" Syd shouts. I look towards Ali who is holding her phone up to me.

"Look at my baby!" I hear mom's voice echo from the phone causing me to laugh.

Syd picks at my shirt looking at the small print on it before shaking her head.

"Just like your mom. Sharks? Really?" she questions.

"It's a perfect shirt baby! Don't listen to your Aunt Syd, she's jealous," Mom butts in which I stick my tongue out towards my auntie.

"You look beautiful hun," Ali tells me sincerely. I feel my cheeks grow hot as I walk up to her, trying to see the phone.

I see all my aunts trying to fit into the camera screen to look at me.

"Auntie Toby!" I yell towards my favorite Aunt (don't tell Kelley).

"My baby bear! Have fun tonight with your special friend," she teases which makes my cheeks grow even hotter.

Dammit, I take it back.

"Awww she's blushing!" Syd announces which earns even more teasing from my aunts.

The door suddenly rings which I feel my nerves grow even more than before.

"Wait baby!" Mom announces. I don't even notice Auntie Syd walk away as I turn to the phone.

"Yeah Mommy?" I question.

"I love you baby, you look beautiful," she notes.

"I love you too Mom, now I got to-"

"Hi, you must be Sadie. I'm Aryn's Aunt Sydney," I hear from the front door.

Nope, I will not let Sadie be interrogated just yet by my aunts.

"Auntie Syd," I whine going to front door, "leave her alone."

That's when I notice Sadie's blonde hair that's slightly curled, she has on light make up that makes her eyes pop out and that's when I see her simple black dress that she has on, paired with a pair of Converse.

She looks beautiful.

"Wow, Ryn, you look beautiful," Sadie comments. I feel my smile grow even wider which doesn't go unnoticed from my family over the phone.

"Awww she just called her beautiful," I hear people gush over.

I shake my head at my family and walk up to Sadie, "you look beautiful too Peanut."

I pinch her cheek which earns me a smack to my chest and an eye roll.

"Why did I chose you as my date again?" she jokes.

I walk up to her, wrapping my arm around her and leading her outside for the photo shoot I know that's about to happen.

Leaning towards her ear, I whisper, "because you secretly like me Peanut."

I see her cheeks grow red as she shoves me away again but grabs my arm to bring me back closer.

"Ash! Your daughter is actually flirting with a girl!" I hear Aunt Kelley over the phone. I bite my lip trying not to say a snarky remark as more voices start to erupt through the phone.
