I grabbed my bags and walked through the airport as my favorite person in the world who I haven't seen in a while comes to view.
"Momma!" I screamed, dropping my bags and running up to her. I jumped into her arms, holding her close because that was the one thing I was needing.
A momma bear hug.
It's our bye week and I convinced mom to let me go to camp for a few days. Since I'm doing good in school, I arrived today which is Thursday and I leave on Sunday.
"My baby," Mom whispered, holding me tight, "I missed you so much."
"I missed you! Can we go eat, I'm hungry," I ask her immediately and she nods her head, smiling at me.
"I guess I'm chop liver, carrying your bags and all," Auntie Megan mumbled and I turned around. Noticing Alyssa, Megan, and Tobin.
"Lys!" I screamed, jumping into Auntie Alyssa's arms.
Megan scoffed as I laugh, going straight into Tobin's arms right after.
"Come on!"
Finally, I turn to Auntie Megan and open my arms, "best for last."
"Mhm."
I wrap my arms around her before going up to mom, grabbing onto her arm and walking beside her.
We get to the rental car, putting my things inside before I sit between Megan and Tobin.
"How's baseball?" Tobin questioned as I leaned my head on Megan.
"Good, we have a big tournament coming in two weeks and we are killing it! You know, I've made the most home runs on our team."
"That's my girl," Mom says proud as I smile.
"How's the art?"
"Good, I've been painting a lot more and I have an audition for Julliard after my the baseball tournament. I'm so excited for that as well."
"Oh damn, my girl! I still haven't heard you in person on that piano, when are you going to play for me?" Megan questioned.
"Hmm, when I feel like it," I tell her with a smirk.
We arrive to a small café and it felt like my stomach was going to eat itself. I was starving.
I order myself a turkey sandwich and a chai tea latte, showing Tobin some of the art that I've been working on lately. Which she obviously adored.
"Whoa, wait-" she makes me pause as I had swiped through a picture quickly.
She scrolls back and I don't bother to argue as she stops at the portrait I drew of Sadie I. It was the first time I met her, looking up to me with those daunting eyes and smile, holding onto her book.
"Aryn, you are amazing, you could do so much with this," Tobin exclaims looking at the detailed drawing.
"You should see this piece she drew me for my birthday, it's beautiful," Mom tells her as Tobin passes around my phone.
"That is beautiful Aryn, very beautiful. You have some talent, you and Tobin need to collaborate on something," Megan tell us as she hands me my phone.
I look towards Toby with a smile that she returns, "totally." I tell her, holding my hand up for a fist bump.--
We walk into the hotel and go straight up to Mom's room, I carry my backpack as mom carries my bag. There is no where I rather be than here, I missed this woman like crazy.
