I opened up the front door of my parents house as I held my blanket tightly around me. It may be 3 am and I may be 23 years old but when I have nightmares, I still like to cuddle with my moms. Even though it's been years since I last cuddled them after a nightmare but the perks of living in the same city is I can now.
I walked through their house and made my way to my moms room.
"Please be decent," I mumbled as I cracked open the door. It was only Mom and Momma in the bed so far so I walked over and nudged Momma.
"Lyle, come on baby," Momma mumbles, opening the blanket.
"It's me Momma," I whisper.
"Then come on Haven baby," she mumbles again with her eyes closed, patting the spot.
"Try again," I whisper as Momma finally opens her eyes.
"My first baby," she tells me, touching my face, "you okay hun?"
I shake my head no as she scoots over so I can lay down.
I cuddle into her chest, getting comfortable in her arms.
"I miss this," Momma sighs as she runs her hands through my hair.
"Me too Momma, me too."
---
"Bubba's moveee," I hear Emory grumble as he wedges himself between Momma and me.
"That's my Momma," I argue to him as I hear him growl.
"No my momma," he fights back as I open my eyes, sitting up.
"We going to fight," I tell him, ready to beat up my little brother.
"No, you have baby-"
"That's right and we don't fight our siblings," Mom says sleepily as I glare at him.
"I'll fight you," I mouth to the two year old.
"Aryn." Momma says with her eyes closed as Emory sticks his tongue out at me.
Siblings.
I fell back asleep and woke up to someone cuddled against my chest, Emory was holding tightly onto me as Momma had turned around.
"---but Mom, it was so cool because I jumped from the airplane and--" Lyle was rambling on to Mom as she seemed to be focused on what he was saying.
Right there against Mom was Haven who reminded me of me when I was younger and how I used to hold on to Mom after nightmares.
Haven probably had a nightmare too.
"Good morning Lyle," I let out as he turns around, a smile forming on his lips.
"How'd you get here?" he questions excitedly.
"Magic," I sarcastically tell him.
"Bubba, I need pee," Emory tells me as I help him out of bed as he runs to the bathroom.
After everyone finally gets out of bed, I still hold onto my blanket, the same one mom got me when she adopted me.
It's baby blue with little sharks and she had 'Harris' engraved in it. Although it has some damaged from the last few years, I've managed to keep it in good shape.
I curl up on the couch as I watch the cartoons on the tv, Mom and Momma are in the kitchen making breakfast.
"Bubba, I brought you coffee," Lyle tells me as he concentrates, bringing the mug to me very slowly.
I meet him halfway, grabbing it from him, "thank you Buddy."
I take a sip of coffee, setting it on the coffee table before leaning back in the couch.
