Her big brown eyes bore into mine while she touched my face lightly, she leaned over and gently kissed my cheek before cuddling into my chest.

'For you, there'll be no more crying.

For you, the sun will be shining.'

The all too familiar crashing of glass and screaming is heard just out side the door.

'And I feel that when I'm with you,

It's alright, I know it's right.'

"I paid you for that stupid b-tch!" my latest abuser screamed to my mom while I continued to sing. Trying to drown out the sounds for the tiny body wrapped around me.

'To you, I'll give the world.

To you, I'll never be cold.

Cause I feel when I'm with you,

It's alright, I know it's alright.'

'Fine! Take her again, for free like the worthless piece of sh-t she is!" the sound my birth mother screamed while I allowed the hot tears stream down my face.

'And the songbirds are singing, like they know the score.

And I love you, I love you, I love you, like never before.

And I wish you all the love in the world.

But most of all, I wish it from myself.'

The door flies open and I know what's about to happen next.

Cooperate so they don't touch her.

I peel myself away from Angelica who clings to my chest, "I know, I know but I'll be back later okay?" but the way she looked at me. I should of known, I should of known but I didn't.

I reach over to kiss her forehead but before I can connect my lips, she disappears.

----

I wake up panting while I grip my blankets, looking around I feel for the small body I had accustomed to but she was no where.
