I ran down the hall towards Moms room and opened the door, instantly jumping in the middle of the bed.
"It's Christmas!" I screamed with excitement as I heard Mom groan, glancing at the clock.
"Aryn, it's 6 in the morning."
I can't help but let out a little laugh as I wrap my arms around her.
"I know but, I got to keep the tradition up," I told her before rolling over, getting pulled into Momma's embrace.
"Merry Christmas Hun," she whispers.
I lay my head on her chest and Mom turns over and big spoons me. We don't really say anything, we just lay there together.
After a while, I crawl out of bed, going straight into the kitchen to start on breakfast.
Momma comes in, grabbing a cup of coffee, "you need help hun?"
"No I got it momma, I wanna cook for you both. I promise I'm way better than Mom," I joke, earning a laugh from her.
"Yeah, we aren't going to let Mom touch the stove today-"
"I'm not that bad at cooking, remember that one time I cooked that pasta stuff," Mom tells me.
"Mom, I cooked that pasta stuff after you burnt the chicken," I tell her, cracking the eggs in a bowl.
"Whatever Kid, you're supposed to be on my side. Make me look cool in front of Ali," she mumbles, kissing my forehead.
I continue to cook breakfast, singing along to whatever comes on the radio. Being really thankful that it wasn't Christmas music that was playing right now.
We eat in the living room, watching whatever movies that are on the tv. I keep looking towards the tree, wanting to open up my presents but waiting on the opportunity.
Whenever we get through the first movie, the door bell rings and I look towards Mom and Momma who are smiling.
"Go answer it," Mom tells me before winking at me. I get off my spot on the couch and rush to the door.
I swing it open and I smile at the person that is standing right there.
"Uncle Kyle!" I screamed in excitement before jumping on him. He pulls me into his embrace and spins me around.
"My favorite Niece! I missed you," he tells me, giving me a kiss on my cheek, "and I come barring gifts."
He picks up some neatly wrapped gifts that he set on the porch and I lead him into the house.
Momma gets up from the couch to hug her brother while I can't help the smile on my face.
"Best Christmas gift yet," I tell Mom who rolls her eyes.
"I bet I can beat that, you'll see later," she tells me with a huge smile before hugging Uncle Kyle.
I go back to my spot on the couch, just in time for the next movie that is playing.
Everyone else settles in and Kyle sits next to me, so I scoot over and lay my head on his shoulder.
Soon after the door bell rings again and I look towards Moms who are looking at each other confused.
"Anyone else surprising me?" I questioned.
"I'm not sure Hun," Momma tells me before I get off the couch and go to the door.
Once again, I swing it open and I can't help my smile that grows when I see Sadie standing there.
"Merry Christmas Ryn!" she exclaims before giving me a bone crushing hug.
