"Aryn, come on, you and your parents have been doing so much for me these last two weeks. I appreciate it, I do but you don't have to do all this," Sadie tells me as I'm directing her where to go.
Over the course of two weeks, Momma and I took her indoor skydiving, to the aquarium, went to Disney World, went on a day trip to Morikami Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach and got her into some French lessons.
I didn't exactly tell Mom about anything on Sadie's bucket list but I did have her bucket list in my pocket and I tend to carry it everywhere. So, I guess I left it on the kitchen table and Momma found it. Now she's been helping me do these little things that she's been wanting to do.
You can see that Sadie is starting to deteriorate and it honestly breaks my heart , she's getting weaker but she still keeps a smile on her face through it all.
It's the beginning of February, Baseball is going good and I am honestly excited for my first game coming up on the fifteenth.
"Peanut, trust me, you're going to like this," I tell her as I have her pull into the a Kindergarten school's parking lot.
"What are we doing here?" she questions but I get out the truck and run over the other side, helping her out.
"Come on," I direct her.
The thing is, I have no classes after lunch but I usually stay at school because I have practice after the school day. That's why I stay but ever since I found out about Sadie, I've been doing my best to go out and do stuff with her before practice since her day is the same.
We walk into the building and are greeted by the Secretary at the front desk, "hello, how can I help you two?"
"Yes ma'am, we are the volunteers for Mrs. Jacobs, I'm Aryn Harris and this is Sadie Martinez," I tell her.
"Oh yes! Mrs. Jacobs told me she would be expecting you, here's your visitors pass and she's in room 31. If you go down this hall, take the second right and it should be on the left side," she instructs us.
I thank her before we head down where she told us to go.
"What are we doing?" Sadie questions with a bit more excitement.
"Today, you are Ms. Sadie and you're going to be helping out Mrs. Jacobs," I told her.
I knock on the door and wait for a second, the door opens and we are greeted by Mrs. Jacobs who has a huge smile on her face.
"Aryn, it's good to see you again sweetie. This must be Sadie, she's the one interest in being a teacher, yes?" she questions.
"Yes ma'am I am," Sadie tells her, introducing herself to her.
"Come on, I would love to talk with you. Aryn, go and make some friends," Mrs. Jacobs tells me as they walk away together, talking away.
I walk over to a table to see they are practicing writing their names.
"Hi, I'm Ms. Aryn," I introduce myself to the table of kids who seem suddenly interested in me.
"Hi! I'm Cory," a little boy introduces himself before the other kids start to do the same.
"Let's continue to work on our names shall we?" I tell them.
"But that's boring," Corey says.
"Then let's learn about Physics and thermodynamics," I offer.
Corey looks at me like I've grown two heads as he picks up his marker, going back to his paper.
