Grabbing my computer, I went straight to Google and typed away.

'How to propose to your girlfriend'

Right away, steps were given to me on how to do it.

Step 1: Buy the ring

Check.

Step 2: Ask her parents' permission

Check. Did that last week.

Step 3: Decide a location for the proposal.

Our bed? That's where we spend the most time together... I'm lame, I don't really like going out and doing much.

Maybe that's a reason why she wouldn't marry me then..

"Aryn, Stop," I mumble to myself.

Step 4: Get your proposal speech ready

Can I just stare at her until she says yes?

Fuck it, Ima just do it now.

I close my computer and head to my bedroom where Emily is passed out.

I walk over and get in bed with her, reaching into the nightstand, I pull out the black velvet box.

In it was a simple, diamond ring.

"Pst, Em?" I whisper but she doesn't budge.

"Will you marry me?" I question nervously but she's still asleep.

Ima take that as yes, I grab her left hand and slip the ring on her finger. Which looks perfect on her.

I lay down and close my eyes, hoping that she notices the ring in the morning.

---

I wake up with a heavy weight on my body.

"Aryn, wake up!" Emily yells and I open my eyes to find her sitting on my hips.

"What is this?" she questions, holding out her hand.

Well she noticed it quickly.

"I asked you to marry me last night but you were asleep," I tell her as she furrows her eyebrows.

"Honey, how am I supposed to answer you when I was asleep?" she questions with an amused look.

I shrug my shoulders, feeling a little nervous that she wouldn't want to marry me.

I see her take off the ring and I feel my heart break a little, maybe this is a little too early.

"I'm awake now," she says handing me the ring.

I shift her weight a little so I can sit up.

Now that we are eye level, I grab her hand and I look down at it.

"Emily, I-" I begin but I find myself speechless and getting lost in those blue eyes.

This is much more scarier now that she's awake.

"You got this baby," Emily encourages as I laugh, feeling my cheeks heat up.

"I suck at words, I don't know how to talk about my feelings but I can try to paint you a picture or write you a song. Even then, that would never come close to describing the way I feel about you. I just know that I love the mother you are to our daughter and I love the partner you are too me. I- I suck at this," I ramble off as Emily presses her lips against mine before she starts to laugh.
