Rebecca was sitting on the couch in Cyn and Jaxon's apartment. Jaxon was at the park with Maverick so she was watching television alone, enjoying the peace and quiet until Cyn's bedroom door opened. She sat entirely too close but by now Rebecca was used to Cyn's inability to gauge what was inappropriate as far as personal space went. Plus, she gave up trying to get any personal space with Maverick around any way. The boy loved his mama. He couldn't help it and she learned to not mind.
"What's up, Cyn?" Rebecca asked.
"I need a huge favor." Cyn said smiling up at her.
Rebecca turned the volume down and turned towards the grinning woman beside her. "Okay. What?"
"I need you to uh... kind of distract my sister. Just one of them."
Rebecca frowned. "Oh god. No."
"Rebecca!" Cyn whined.
Bec rolled her eyes. "Jesus Christ. Which one?"
"Ava and pleeeaaaassseee! I need Harper to come with me somewhere but if I invite her I'll have to invite Ava or she'll get all pouty. But but buuuutttt... if she already has plans with Jaxon's super cool and gorgeous girlfriend then it won't matter." Cyn pleaded her case. She knew she had to get rid of Ava so Harper could be whoever she wanted to be, if that was even the case. Their identities were so intertwined it was hard to tell them apart sometimes and not just by looks.
Rebecca chuckled. "Oh. Cool and gorgeous?"
Cyn nodded. "The absolute coolest. The most beautiful."
"I'm cooler than Emma?" Rebecca asked.
"Bec!"
Rebecca folded her arms and feigned sadness. "Sheesh I don't know if I can hang with Ava then."
"Okay. Okay. Yes. You're cooler than Emma." Cyn gave in.
Rebecca smiled victoriously. "I know. It's just nice to be reminded."
Cyn rolled her eyes. "Will you do it?"
"Ugh. Fine. Yes. What does she like to do?"
Cyn shrugged. "Hell if I know. Invite her to a movie or something. You won't even have to talk to her."
"Good idea. I'm bringing Jaxon though."
"Great." Cyn grabbed Bec's phone. "Here. Text her now."
Rebecca groaned but she did as she was asked. Cyn grinned and hugged her. "Thank youuuu."
Rebecca turned her attention back to her show. "Yeah yeah."
. . . .
As Delilah was walking into the restaurant she felt someone jump onto her back. Then she heard the unmistakable giggling of her girlfriend. She smiled and grabbed her hands. "Hi, baby."
Cyn hopped down from her Daddy's back and gave her a big hug. "Hiiii!!"
Delilah kissed the top of her head and inhaled her scent. Not seeing her so often felt really weird. She missed her. Delilah's attention was grabbed by Harper who was just now catching up. Cyn must have started running when she saw Delilah.
"Hi, Delilah." Harper said. She was nervous oddly enough. It was just dinner with her sister and her girlfriends. They were just sharing a meal as they had done the day prior. However, all day since she had been invited, Cyn was being cryptic about the evening's events. Not to mention she didn't have Ava by her side. She felt kind of outnumbered. Which didn't make sense. This wasn't a game.
