"Fudge," I muttered under my breath.
I was panicking. I was searching for my younger brother since dusk but to no luck. I can't seem to find him and I have until dawn to tell him about the news. I needed to tell him the news personally and maybe throw some little advice.
It's Jungwoo's first time in the mortal world anyway. He needs to prepare. I walked aimlessly outside the palace grounds deep in thought were could my brother went off to.
After roaming the inner and outer palace for hours, I finally decided to check the 'secret' garden we used to visit when we were young. It was Jungwoo's favorite hiding place whenever he wants to skip council meetings so he will be there for sure.
I reached the wrought iron gates covered in ivy and pushed them open without hesitation. Immediately, I was enveloped by a heavenly exotic scent. White Yasamin. The garden was small compared to the other grand gardens in the palace but this garden was special. Since this was the only place where white Yasamin thrives.
Walking through the heavily scented path lined with yasamin, I relieved my tension along the way while inhaling the flowery scent. I found what I was looking for stooping near the circle mirrored pond in the middle of the garden.
A slim shimmering figure, who was so absorbed with what he was doing that he didn't pay heed with my presence. As usual, my brother was probably watching humans down in the mortal world. "Jungwoo!" I called out.
"What do you mean 'What am I doing here?'. I've been looking for you since dusk!" I said with a slight irritation in my voice. I skipped my duties just so I can search for him since our other brothers were nowhere to be found too. But my irritation can be dealt with is not important right now.
"Oh! Sorry." Jungwoo said quietly.
I reached the spot where Jungwoo was standing and look over the pond. "You're watching them again?" I said while looking over the blurry people reflected in the pond.
"Yes, as always. I like their city lights at night."
"Why do you like mortals so much?" I asked for the millionth time.
"Because they are different from us, I guess," Jungwoo replied before yawning.
I studied my younger brother's face and contemplated how I should deliver the news. Jungwoo was considered as the most beautiful son of the Moon God. Male and female gods alike, even faeries adored him. As he was always glowing in moonlight wherever he goes. Ethereal yet cold at times, a rare protected beauty. Yet he lacked experience, socially and emotionally. I understood our father's decision but I am concerned. Very, in fact. Jungwoo can be quite naive sometimes.
"Why are you looking at me like that? I know I'm beautiful. So stop staring."
"Beautiful, my ass." I teased. "Jungwoo..."
"Hmmm?"
"Father says to celebrate your seven-thousandth birthday, he is giving you a hundred days to stay in the mortal world," I said without breathing or blinking while looking at him with a neutral expression.
