A day after we arrived back from our honeymoon, we started receiving our wedding gifts. First, it was just a parcel or two, then it became a truckload. With the help of three deliverymen, everything was placed inside our spacious living room, after their services I gave them a generous tip and walked them out of the door. I headed back towards the living room and just stood there, not knowing what to do.
"Woah! Is that...our wedding gifts?" Jungwoo exclaimed as he arrived at the scene. He was upstairs, hiding from sight when the delivery men started unloading their truck.
"Yeah, I guess," I answered while waving towards the pile. Pile is an understatement because it is a mountain of gifts. Boxes upon boxes stacked on each other, scattered around the living room until there's not much space.
Jungwoo picked up the nearest box to him and read the gift tag. "Jackson," he mumbled. Then, he sat down on the floor and opened the wedding present and was greeted by a set of his handkerchief brand with our monogram embroidered.
Jungwoo started unwrapping the boxes that his hands can reach and we were surprised by more sets of things from Wang Couture. A pair of black and grey trousers, a set of different styled denim pants, shirts, dress shirts, a pair of leather jackets, boots, socks, even boxer briefs were sent to us.
"Uhm, did Jackson really sent us his entire collection?" I asked as I studied the boxer briefs in my hands. It is of great quality, though.
"I guess he did. Maybe he felt bad that he wasn't able to attend our wedding." Jungwoo replied while folding the clothes back.
And just like that we spent our morning unboxing presents and separating them to a pile that we can use right away and a pile that we can store away until we need them. It was tiring but enjoyable work since we had fun guessing the gifts before opening them.
Soon, our living room is filled with household products, expensive clothing, wedding/portrait art, gift cards, and money checks, jewelry, and last but not the least, food (to Jungwoo's delight). I left Jungwoo to unbox the rest and busied myself in the kitchen as I prepared our lunch.
Today, I prepared seolleongtang (creamy ox bone soup, good for pregnant, er...husband?), bulgogi (marinated beef), fried mandu (dumplings), and haemul pajeon (fried seafood pancake), all requested by none other than my pregnant wife/husband, Jungwoo.
"Babe, lunch is ready," I called out to him as I happily set our eight-seater glass dining table.
"Hmm...it smells delicious, babe. Just in time, Peanut and I were already hungry." he responded while surveying the foods on the table with hungry eyes.
"Yes, yes. I can't let my child and husband get hungry," I said as I pulled a chair for him to sit.
After making sure that he's comfortable, I sat down across him and began putting food on his plate. Then, I watched him dig in happily while gulping down the food with so much gusto. Well, he did say he is hungry, I thought with a smile.
