Taemin POV
I was back in the throne room at the celestial palace doing my usual work of council meetings, and overseeing almost everything that the moon can get a glimpse of when Hana, Taeil's celestial messenger appeared in front of me suddenly.
"Jungwoo. Life. Danger. Quick." Hana chirped, so fast that I only registered four words as he repeats the message again.
Without hesitating, I threw the paperwork in my hands and stood up so quick that made Hana shriek. "Take me to where he is," I ordered Hana, who perched himself on my left shoulder as we disappeared in a flash of white light.
In a fraction of a second, we materialized in a big room inside of what seemed like an apartment. One look and the expression of Taeil and Sicheng told me that there's something wrong as they stood around Jungwoo, who is lying on the bed.
"Dad!" Taeil cried out immediately when he saw me.
"What happened?!" I asked as I rushed beside him and observed Jungwoo, who is pale and not moving.
"Jungwoo's life force is leaking." he replied shakily while tears formed in his eyes. "The baby..." he added.
"Do not speak such ill words! He and his baby will be fine!"I snapped back as I touched Jungwoo's face. Cold. The worst we can do right now is panic when action is needed.
"How many minutes has passed?" I asked hurriedly.
"Less than five minutes." Taeil responded.
"You should've called me right away!" I scolded him. Five minutes is too long.
Without a doubt, I can see my son's life force leaking out from his body in wisps of white mist invisible to the human eye and it's leaking out in an alarming rate. Making the energy in the room to pulsate intensely, faster than Sicheng and Taeil's combine energy transfusion.
We are immortal. But immortality can be given and taken at any moment in time, just like how humans live and die in a regular basis. The only difference that we have from humans is we don't die and reincarnate, instead we just fade away in oblivion. And a sure way for gods to fade is when their life force or "Qi" leaks away.
This can only happen in two reasons : the god forfeit his immortality or the god has experience intense emotional stress that cause him to subconsciously release his life energy.
And I'm betting on the latter, whatever the reason that caused this will be dealt later, I thought as I took my son's hand in mine. "Sicheng, alert the families." I ordered.
"I already did." Sicheng replied quickly. Too quick for me not to notice.
"Did you see this in the future?" I asked him with narrowed eyes as I observed his reaction.
"I-I can't tell you, you know the rule Dad." he stammered as he look at Jungwoo, concern etched on his face.
"Will he...fade away?" Taeil murmured as a tear roll down his cheeks. His hands still on Jungwoo, transferring some of his energy for god knows how long.
"No, at least from what I saw." Sicheng assured.
"That's good enough for me. Now both of you go outside and create an energy barrier. I'll take it from here, since your energy won't be enough to seal Jungwoo's Qi." I commanded to them. Knowing they cannot disobey a direct command coming from me, they walked towards the door reluctantly while they looked back at Jungwoo with worried expression on their faces.
