Chapter 49 : A New Beginning

I was happily enjoying the cupcakes that Jaehyun has made for me when a sudden wave of pain hit me. I felt the muscles in my abdomen tighten up like a fist as Peanut pulsed in a constant rhythm. He was signaling me that it was time, three days earlier from my due date. 

I gasped and yelled for Jaehyun while the pain slowly spread on the lower half of my body. In a quick movement, I was already in Jaehyun's arms as he sprints outside and called for my family in a rush. Peanut, please stay still! I thought as I felt the ball of energy in my belly shift from one position to another, making me feel sick and weak.

A few minutes passed by and we already reached the restricted garden where the Tree of Life is planted. Jaehyun placed me near the magical pond as Taeil has instructed him while we wait for my dad, who will help me with the birthing process. 

"Breathe in, breathe out," Jaehyun instructed me while he does the breathing technique too.

"It's not easy to do----AH!" I yelled as I clutched on him when I felt another painful contraction. 

"I can feel your pain, babe. I am here, I won't leave you," he assured me. Almost in tears, I looked at him in the eye and saw that he was not lying. It might be because of the new powers that he became sensitive to my emotions, but I saw him frown in discomfort every time I feel the throbbing pain.

"Jungwoo!" we finally heard my dad called out as he ran towards us with my father behind.

"He's having contractions every few minutes now," Taeil informed our dad.

"Then, he'll give birth before the moon disappears tomorrow morning." my dad calculated as he felt for my pulse and energy.

"Call the rest of the family, tell them that we are to welcome the child of the Moon God soon," he instructed my brother. Without wasting time, Taeil ran towards the gate to deliver the news of my labor. In a few minutes, the whole family should be waiting outside the garden gates waiting for the wonderful news.

"Jaehyun, remove Jungwoo's clothing and put him in the water," Taemin instructed. "Yeobo, I need my celestial codex," he added as he pointed to my father. 

My father made a nod and walked hurriedly to retrieve the codex that will be used for the ritual. While we wait, Jaehyun has stripped me down naked and assisted me in the water pond. When my skin made the first contact in the water, it suddenly glowed like the water at the falls on our honeymoon. It illuminated everything, including the Tree of Life, which was located in the middle of the pond. 

Settling me comfortably, Jaehyun removed his upper robe and joined me in the water. Since the water was not so deep, he came to my side and hugged me closer to him. "I love you. You can do this. I'm just right here beside you." Jaehyun whispered in my ear as he began to massage my lower back.

Fighting the pain, I decided to conserve my energy and just wrapped my arms around his neck while I laid my head on his shoulder. Every now and then, I would whimper as the pain comes and goes every five to ten minutes apart. 

"The rest of the family are already waiting inside, Dad," Taeil announced as he came nearer to us. He has several blankets and towels with him.
