D O Y O U N G

After the meeting with my mother, I borrowed the Rolls Royce that Manager Park driven earlier and rushed to the hospital as fast as I can. I blared the car horns non-stop to other motorists just so they can drive faster or move out of my way. I'm not losing another friend! was all I can think of while driving like a daredevil.

I arrived at the hospital in less than fifteen minutes and parked the car haphazardly at the sidewalk before stepping out.

"Sir, you cannot park here. The parking is at the back." said the security guard who approached me right away as soon as I stepped out of the vehicle.

"Call your supervisor and tell him that Kim Doyoung is here. He'll know what to do with the car." I ordered as I threw the car keys at him and dashed inside.

"Sir!" he called out but I ignored him and went directly to the information booth inside the hospital.

"Johnny Suh! Where is he?!" I asked the shocked nurse who is supervising the booth as I slammed my hands on top of the counter to stop myself from falling.

"Wait, Sir," she said calmly as she typed something on the computer in front of her. "He's in the I.C.U. right now sir, his mom is currently waiting outside the I.C.U. bay area." she added.

"Thank you!" I called out as I ran towards the I.C.U. area. Without having any trouble locating the place, I soon found Mommy Suh's distinct features in the sea of people who are in the hallway.

"Mommy Suh!" I cried out as I caught my breath when I came to a full stop in front of her. Her head was in between her two small hands as she gave out a sniffle. She slowly looked at me with bloodshot eyes, probably from crying too much since they arrived here.

"Doyoung?" she asked, finally realizing that I'm standing in front of her while I held on my side as I felt a side stitch coming.

"Yes, it's me Mommy Suh," I replied reassuringly while I sat down beside her and studied her face. "What happened?" I asked since I couldn't quite understand her on the phone because she was crying.

"J-Johnny, that s-silly boy got himself shocked with a hairdryer! I-I guess it's my fault too, for not telling him that the bathroom socket is faulty!" she cried out, tears streaming down her worried face.

"No, it's not your fault Auntie," I assured her and took her cold hands in mine. "If anything else, it's Johnny's fault for not asking you about it," I added with a strained smile, hoping that it will lighten her heart even for a bit.

She looked at me warmly with her puffy eyes and squeezed my hand tightly. "Thank you, Doyoung. You're a true friend of Johnny's. God, he can be a mess and a klutz sometimes but you're always there to set him straight. Really, thank you." she said sincerely.

"He'll survive this Auntie. He should, one way or another because I'm the only one who can send him six feet underground." I quipped and earned a weak smile from her.

"Did you call Jaehyun?" she asked suddenly when we became silent after a few minutes.

"I did, but I can't reach him. His line seems to be busy, I'll try again in a few minutes." I responded and smile at her. We silently waited in front of the I.C.U., waiting for any news from the doctors who came in and out of the double doors. After an hour of sitting, I became restless and offered to get a coffee for us. I walked out of the hallway and headed outside as I pulled my phone out of trouser's pocket.
