Chapter 4 : Companion

Jaehyun POV 

I set out early for my garden work next door. I already have my tools with me this time.

 True to his word, Mr. Kim left his house open for me. 

I walk around the garden and set my things outside, then I went in through the sliding door near the kitchen which has a full view of the garden. 

This is my first time setting foot inside Mr. Kim's house and it's much better than I expect it to be. The house is styled with modern decor, equipped with the latest appliances available in the market. It was neat, untouched and it smells nice. 

I check the kitchen counter as he said he'll be leaving a note and the money there. Again without fail, a thick white envelope was sitting there. I didn't bother counting the money inside the envelope but instead I look for the note where a black credit card was attached. 

"Damn. Mr. Kim must be loaded to have a black credit card like this." I thought to myself.

The note is as follows:

Jaehyun,

                I made sure to pay you in cash, as usual. Please take care of the garden and the house for me in the mean time, just for a couple of weeks. I'll make sure to give you extra when I get back. The house key is on top of the fridge. My nephew might be sleeping in late, he will wake up later in the afternoon. Again, please keep an eye on him. I trust you on this. There are certain things I need you to take care of while I'm away. 

1. Buy or cook food for him. ( he's bad in the kitchen so don't let him out of sight)

2. He's energetic but it doesn't usually last long (when this happens, keep something sweet on you all the time)

3. He's not a morning person. Try to read his mood first.

4. Keep plenty of food in the fridge (use the credit card, there's no limit on it)

5. Keep him company and practice socialization.

6. He likes it cold.

PS: Go shopping with him. He doesn't have any clothes with him. Pick the best ones. (card doesn't have a limit)

PPS: Call me IF anything important happens.

PPPS: If he ask who you are, tell him you are his "companion" Enjoy (~_^)

"What is this? Am I keeping a puppy or what?"

"He likes it cold? What is?" I asked myself, reading the note again. Mr. Kim is sure a weirdo sometimes. Hopefully, his nephew isn't.

I put the note in my back pocket and start my work at the garden. Luckily, it's not too hot since it's the beginning of spring.
When lunch came, I've already weeded out the garden and mowed the lawn. I decided to eat back at home, so I locked Mr. Kim's home for a moment.

I went up to my room and put my money at the cardboard box in my closet and went down to the kitchen to fix myself a sandwich.

I made sure I had a quick lunch since I want to finish at least half of what I'm suppose to do. Before leaving the house, I grab some ingredients that I will use later for dinner. I'm thinking of making spaghetti. It's one of my foolproof recipe. I hope Mr. Kim's nephew won't mind.
