Tobi quickly shapeshifted into a hawk and soared through the window and into the midnight sky. She scanned the empty fields and forests, but there was no sign of her mother. She felt the tears coming out again, so she headed back to the house.
"I can't find her!" she cried out frustrated. She turned back into a human and sighed. Valor was crossing her arms.
"We'll find her..." she said, her voice trailing off.
"We don't know where to look, Valor!" Tobi shouted. "We don't even know where that monstrosity looking shadow took her! The carvings said " Find me", but we don't know where 'me' is! How are we ever going to find mom, if we can't pinpoint her location?!" She then grabbed Valor's hand. "I'm going. Wherever she is. Screw it! And you're coming with me!"
"What?" Valor jerked her back in incomprehension. "What about Fierrn and Aquila?!"
"They can manage," Tobi frowned. "They know how to fend for themselves."
"But how can Fierrn buy food? Mom doesn't pay her that much."
"Chef Malinconico is rich enough," Tobi replied, her face stone-cold. "He only works for us because he loves cooking more than anything else."
"Well... what if we can't make it?"
"Doesn't matter. We have to get her." Tobi ran back upstairs with Valor pushing on behind her. She stopped at their room and busted open the closet, grabbing a heap of clothes and stuffing it in a pack. She then pulled the double strings attached to the top shut.
"What about the police?"
"And risk the information about our magic getting out? Not a chance. Remember our job, Valor."
"But! We don't even know where we're going!"
"We'll ask Artemis. He'll be able to help us."
"But we can't just drag him into this!" she stepped in the way, blocking her from the door, her arms out.
Tobi gave her soft eyes, making her freeze. "Valor, we need to find mom. Please, understand."
Her tensed up, her whole body shaking and salty tears slipping out of her eyes. She sighed then looked directly in Tobi's eyes and said, "Okay, fine."

The sounds of crows and owls hooted and cawed in the moonlit sky. The air was a hazy blue with grey clouds enshrouding the large full moon. It shone pure white with a navy aura and the twinkling specks in the sky scattered around. With soft rustles, the gentle wind caressed the leaves of the trees planted around the hilled area and was the only sound in the silent night.
Valor paced around the kitchen preparation room and packed a whole bunch of food in a large sack. Then, she and Tobi packed extra clothes and a portable charger for their tech devices that would work remotely. Tobi ran to the kitchen cabinets, and took out some purple looking sand in a salt shaker, and sprinkled some on the bag. The bag shrank and was the size of Valor's thumb.
"Woah!" Valor exclaimed. "What's that?"
"Restria," Tobi replied. "It makes things smaller. Chef Malinconico would normally use it for adjusting out food portions, but never uses it in his cooking, so I bet he wouldn't even notice that we took it." She then hustled over to the cabinet again and got out some orange sand in a salt shaker.
"Now what's that?" Valor asked.
"Trania, it makes things bigger. How else are we gonna get things out of our bag when it's tiny?"
