Tobi's hair whipped back in the breeze as she gazed to the side. Everything was so peaceful and the weather was just perfect up in the clouds. The sun's rays shot out in different directions, making everything bright like paradise. The sky was light blue, with a few clouds here and there. Artemis shot higher and higher up into the sky. He flew into a cloud, and puffs of it split apart with a poof! Valor and Tobi laughed. At last, Artemis stopped by their house and Tobi said, "Thanks!"
"No problem!"
Valor sighed. "I wish I could do that every day...It's so beautiful up there, so you don't have to worry about anything."
"Sometimes it's rough up there, though," Artemis added. "Unexpected weather... angry birds." He gave her a dorky grin and she chuckled.
"We better go," Tobi told him with her hands behind her back.
"Alright then! I'll see you guys soon!" He took off into the sky spiraled away.
"You like him," her sister said out of the blue, a creepy staring-into-your-soul kind of look plastered on her face.
"I do not!" she snapped back.
"You thought that he was so nice that he helped us, and that you felt a connection when he was bleeding!"
"I was being nice back to him!" Tobi ran into the house as she felt like her sister was watching her, or someone else.
"Tobi!" said a recognizable sound. Tobi whirled her head around. It was Jered. He was dressed in a white long jacket that fell down to his knees and a grey t-shirt and baggy pants. His hair was messy and circles were formed under his eyes.
"Oh my God!" Tobi stumbled backward, then smiled. "Jered!" They hugged tightly like most siblings wouldn't.
"Why are you here?" she asked once they separated.
"My father..." Jered replied back ominously. Tobi was confused.
"What about him?"
"He found out that I was hanging out with you and got really mad," he said. She froze.
"Your father means... our father, right?" she asked to be sure. Jered nodded.
"What did he-"
The door shut. "Look, Tobi," Valor said, turning around after releasing the doorknob. "I'm sorry I-" She gasped.
"Jered!"
He smiled weakly and Valor asked, "How have you been?"
"Right," Tobi continued. "Now what I was about to say was..."
Valor gasped again. "Your father beat you up because you hung out with us?!"
Tobi was about to lecture her sister about not interrupting when she just realized what Valor said. She whipped around and gaped at Jered.
"H-he beat you up?!" she practically yelled. Her brother sighed.
"Where?!" Valor cried running up towards him. Jered kept to himself and glanced the other way. Valor paused and then fumbled to roll up his sleeves. She could've sworn she saw him grimace. She and Tobi stared in horror at the countless number of scars on his arms and wrists.
Tobi gritted her teeth. "Why that little..."
"Don't do anything!" Jered pleaded. "If he sees you, he'll hurt me again and possibly you." He then sighed and scratched his head. "I think it's best if we don't make any contact with each other for a while."
"Have you tried calling the police?" Tobi suggested.
"Well, my father has powers, remember?" he pointed out. "Speed and bulletproof."
"Right..." Valor said. "So, what do we do?"
"As I said, we shouldn't make any contact with each other for a while?"
"When's "a while" going to end?" she shoved on.
"I... don't know yet." Tobi trusted him, so she reached out for another hug. "We trust you, but stay safe." He nodded. Tobi motioned to Valor who finally joined in the group hug.
"I have to go," Jered announced. "Goodbye."
Tobi and Valor dipped their heads down and up. Jered's form puffed like a smoke bomb and he was gone. A note floated onto the floor. It read: I'm learning the ways of the ninja so I can escape from my father. Can I live in your house once I escape? Tobi chuckled and wrote on the back of the note: "Of course!", and then folded it into a paper swan.
"Deliver!" she whispered to it, and the swan flapped its wings and flew out the window. Valor didn't see the note, but immediately read Tobi's mind.
"Soo... he's going to stay with us?" Valor asked. Her sister froze and then relaxed, remembering that Valor used her power.
"I don't know, maybe?" she replied.
"But we have to make up a fake name for him, because... you know."
"Yeah. Any suggestions?" Tobi agreed.
"Hmmm... what about... Axel?" Valor said. "Or...Jared."
"So creative" Tobi scoffed. Just then, their mother came in.
"So, how was school?" she asked with a smile while crossing her arms. She leaned against the wall with her arms crossed, and still smiling, she said, "You're late."
"Fine," Tobi said. She then decided to change the subject. "Mom, I'm hungry. Is there something for me to eat?"
"Me too!" Valor piped.
Kristal sighed and shook her head. She then nodded. "Of course, go ask the chef to make you something." Valor and Tobi licked their lips and headed to the kitchen.
"Ah! Valor and Tobi!" Chef Malinconico cried joyfully. "Are you a-hungry? Of- a course you are! I shall serve you whatever you want-a!"
Valor looked at Tobi. "Some cherry pie sounds good, Chef."
"Of- a course! And would you-a-like a touch of whipped cream?"
Valor's stomach grumbled. "Yes please!"
"Alright! Give me twenty minutes please!"
"You take twenty minutes to slap some whipped cream on something?" She smirked.
"I have to a-make it too, ya know?" the chef joked, mixing the ingredients together. He added a pinch and a dash here and there. Then, after mixing everything together, he slid the pie in the oven to bake., He typed in 15 into the numbers, then pressed OK. The oven heated to life. The smell of cherry pie traced in the air and made a delicious aroma. Tobi's stomach grumbled. Finally, fifteen minutes passed, and Chef Malinconico took out the pie and put eight dollops of whipped cream evenly on the top crust. He cut out four slices and handed two of them to Tobi, then Valor.
Tobi stabbed her fork in the warm, cherry pie and cut out a piece. She devoured the slice and immediately started cutting another. Valor gaped at Tobi and slowly ate her pie.
"What?" Tobi asked. "I'm hungry!"
"Mhm," Valor snickered. "For once in your life."
Sorry to cut it short ;-;
