Valor watched, horrified. Bloody remains in the water made her gag slightly. She felt ready to faint.

"I'm used to seeing this," Jered muttered, slowing the boat to a normal pace. She wondered what he meant.

"Damn," she uttered under her breath. "I wonder why that thing went after us." She wiped some sweat from her forehead and took a long swig of water.

"H-Hey Jered?" she asked, trailing behind him after setting the bottle back down. Jered grabbed the wheel and sat down.

"Yeah?" he responded, steering the boat north.

"Are you sure you know where we're going?"

"Uh... no..." Jered responded calmly. "BUT, I have a feeling that we're going the right way."

Valor crossed her arms. "What?! How can you trust that?"

"I don't know, I just... go with my gut."

"Well, when we end up in the middle of the ocean, we'll know why." She grabbed the steering wheel and jerked it in the other direction.

"Haha, that's funny," Jered murmured with sarcasm. "Now give me the steering wheel." He pried Valor's hands off and she unwillingly let go.

She let out a "tsk!" after he turned the wheel back towards the original route. "Whatever. I'm getting something to eat, want anything?"

"Wait... there's food here?"

"Well, yeah. I checked when you were sleeping."

"What the hell! Valor, I'm literally starving!" he practically yelled.

"Take it easy! Besides, we've been here only for a couple of days," she pointed out.

"Whatever! Find me something with meat, will you?"

Valor nodded and walked down the steps to the basement part of the boat. It was dark down there but there was a light switch at the bottom of the stairs. She flicked it and a bright panel of light filled the room. A clean cupboard was tucked in the corner, with a complete kitchen and a luxury living room with a wide screen TV. The floor surprisingly wasn't dirty; it was clean and polished. Valor snorted.

Typical Phoenix, she thought. She made her way to the cupboard and took out two plates, and went to the pantry to snatch some beef jerky. After, she poured the whole contents of the package equally among both plates and stuck two bottles of water between her fingers. As she climbed up the steps, she heard some sort of liquid pooling onto the shiny floorboards. Filled with curiosity, she retreated back down to investigate.

As she went closer to the sound, more fluids could be heard dripping on the ground. Finally, she reached the corner of the boat, which had a medium-sized hole through it, and water poured into the ship. Valor's mouth dropped open, and she ran up the stairs to Jered.

"Shit! JERED!" she yelled, shoving the plate of jerky in his arms and tugging him downstairs. Jered restrained himself and switched to auto-pilot mode, before finally giving up and letting Valor drag him down the stairs.

"Calm down! What is it?" he asked, pushing his glasses up his nose. Valor pointed at the dark corner of the ship. The painted wood was wet and water slid from side to side, mimicking the boat's motion. Jered's eyes widened.

"Find something to cover it! Quick!" He searched around the room and found a pole leaning against a grey and white marble countertop, about two feet long that seemed about the right size that could easily fit in the hole. He grabbed it, slid it in, and thank goodness, it plugged the hole.
