CHAPTER 8: TEM

After another long night without sleep, dawn breaks. I get up and prepare for school as if it were a normal day, although I know it won't be. I go out together with Juno and we go down the stairs. As soon as we walk down, there are many murmurs and many people crowded together. This can't be good.

I stay closer with Juno, but she pulls apart to approach some group of people. She touches the shoulder of a tarsier. Once she sees her, she asks her.

J: Excuse me, what's happening here?

The tarsier gives her the school newspaper, Juno takes it and reads the front page. I watch from a distance. She turns to see me with a worried look. I know I wouldn't like to see what's in that newspaper, I know what's in there, but I go to see it anyway. I see the photograph of the destroyed door with police tapes surrounding it, someone else must have discovered him while I was in my room and they called the police. Remembering that makes my stomach nauseous. I proceed to read the newspaper anyway.

A STUDENT WAS KILLED IN SCHOOL:

Today, at 2 in the morning, a student was found dead, it is confirmed that the identity of this student is no one else and no one less than Tem the alpaca. His body was found mutilated in a classroom by the security guard, Rokume. His cause of death was confirmed to be devotion.

I stop reading, this newspaper keeps giving me those memories, that make me want to vomit. I return the newspaper to Juno.

Y/N: S-Sorry Juno, I ...

I cover my hand in my mouth, I feel like I'm going to throw up. I sit down on the front steps. Juno sits next to me and puts her hand on my back in support.

Y/N: I-I... I can't continue reading this. Not now.

J: Hey, calm down. You don't have to read it. I know it's a ... scary topic. We should let the police fix this. So everything will end faster.

She pats my back. The police is going to investigate? .. That would make me feel calmer. If it wasn't that I was a witness and I was running from the guard. I duck my head and hold it with my hands. Oh no, I don't want to be suspicious.

J: ... Hey Y/N... Can I ... ask you a question?

Oh no here we go with the questions, already.

Y/N: Sure .. what is it?

J: Um .. What were you doing back then? I mean ... Why did you discover that student?

I knew she would ask me some of these questions. I remain silent thinking on what to tell.

J: I know that when you got here, you were panicking, and you told me someone was dead. I didn't want to ask you any questions back then. You looked very scared. But you never told me. Why were you outside on first place? Why did you have his blood on your hands?

I feel nauseous again. I try to relax while ten thousand ideas pass over my head. I feel as if I was being interrogated by my friend. Which is true.

Y/N: I um .. I got up to go to the bathroom and-

J: Again?

Y/N: What?

OMG JUNO REALLY?! Quit asking questions! My ear twitches.

Y/N: .... Uhh yes. I drink a lot of water, you know? Let me finish..

Juno stays quiet since then so she can hear it all. Thank God.

Y/N: I ... I went to the bathroom, and as I was leaving, I heard um ... a very loud knock on the door of the building. And ... I looked out of curiosity and saw the door open and ... y-you know the rest.

Juno stares at me, I feel like she's analyzing me. Doesn't she trust me? ... How can she do it if I lie to her too?..

J: Okay, I understand.

Juno gets up and offers her hand for me so I get up too. I take it and I get up with her.

J: They'll soon find out what happened, it'll be fine.

... That's what I fear.

While we walk to the classrooms, while we take classes. I just have that boy's name in my head.
