CHAPTER 31: SEEKING THE TRUTH

Legoshi turns to see me, looking confused and distraught. As soon as he sees me, I feel ashamed to have asked him the question.  I feel like I'm taking a big risk.  But, I'm tired of intuiting things without really knowing them. Even though I'm regretting it, I ask for answers again.

Y/N: I just don't get it ... I know Bill's ... he's not that nice.  But ... you ... suddenly showed up and attacked him ... I-I don't know what happened for you to do that a-and ... I just ... I need to know.

I keep my head down and look elsewhere, I feel like I'm looking for him to hate me.

Legoshi looks at me deeply, he has a somewhat distraught look, and then turns to look elsewhere as well.  It seems that he's thinking on what to tell me ..

I hold my forearm and look at him again, just as he stares at me too. It is then that he begins to walk towards me.  Although he walks calmly, and he doesn't seem intimidating.  It's inevitable that I get a bit nervous.

My knees tremble a little and I feel a lump in my throat.  I stare at him as he gets closer.  Everything moves in slow motion.  I can't believe that I'm causing these fears myself.  That's why I must know.  I WANT THE INTUITION TO STOP!

Legoshi: I smelled a vial he had.

Y/N: Huh?

Legoshi walks through me and leans against a wall of a building where we were close.  Then he slowly slides down to the floor, sitting down.

Legoshi: Before the play started, while I was rehearsing with you.  Bill came in and then I caught a strange smell.  I wasn't sure if my nose was cheating on me, so when I smelled him closer, and he fled to the bathroom, I had to follow him to make sure what he smelled was true.

Legoshi is fidgeting with his hands, while keeping his head down and continues telling me what happened.

Legoshi: When I arrived, I asked him what he had and he showed me a vial that contained just what I smelled.... Rabbit blood.

Y/N: Wait... What?

My ears lift, that caught my attention.

Y/N: Rabbit blood ?!  What was he doing with that?

Legoshi: He said he needed it ... that it was a "justifiable dose" since he would have to act ...

Y/N: I can't believe it, each day, Bill behaves more and more like a jerk.

Legoshi looks at me and gives a faint smile, then continues to tell me.

Legoshi: He went on to tell me that ... He didn't want to live in the shadows like me, but he wanted to live under the spotlight.  As if he had to be immoral for that... And...I don't know, I guess that ... to think that blood could've been from ...

He goes silent and turns to see me, he seems to doubt what to say to me for a few seconds.

Legoshi: ... From some student, some classmate... I ... I couldn't let that happen..

Y/N: Oh my..

Now I understand ... Bill is nuts.  I don't think attacking him so brutally was the best idea, but ... I understand why he did it.

Legoshi: I'm sorry you had to see that .. among other people.

I sit next to him, leaning against the wall as well. I look forward, I feel the sunlight and a light breeze.

Legoshi: There's something that I don't understand.

Y/N: Hm?

Legoshi and I look at each other.
