CHAPTER 52: GLANCES

Louis the red deer.  A popular boy.  He's the school's candidate to become a Beastar.  He comes from a rich and noble family.  Louis is determined and very cunning.  Even if he's a herbivore, he'll always show strength and courage to move forward.

He's smart and supportive, he believes in teamwork and the union between species.  He captivates people and inspires them to make the world a better place....

Among all the students at Cherryton Academy, he'd be the person I'd least imagine bringing a weapon to school with.

Louis returned a few minutes after leaving.  He looks at his bandaged hand, while the rest of us keep rehearsing. 

Remembering he has a gun at school worries me a lot, I end up missing some notes when playing the violin.

I look at Bill, he hasn't done anything since, he just rehearses and remains silent.  I don't understand how after such a threat he's still standing.. Why hasn't he said anything?  Why haven't I said anything?

Well... he's Louis!  The most loved boy in school. Who would believe us?  Besides, if he threatened to KILL Bill if he said anything about his past... How would he get if someone found out he had a damn gun at school?!

Louis: It's certainly nothing compared to your back.

I startled when listening to Louis, I see he gives Legoshi a push.  Obviously without the intention of hurting him...

Louis: What do you want? If you got something to say then just say it.

Legoshi: Not me... nothing to say.

They stare at each other.  We can all feel the tension between them.  Legoshi looks at him with a killing gaze that shows anger and jealousy... While Louis shows an annoyed but confident gaze...

Seeing Legoshi confront someone is no longer so surprising to me, I guess I've gotten used to seeing his wild side..

Still, I'm more concerned for him than for Louis.. Legoshi, if you knew he had a gun... Would you still face him?

Louis: Don't bring your personal issues into the club.

Although Legoshi still shows him a direct look of hatred.  Louis turns to look at us all calmly, as if he didn't notice Legoshi's stare.

Louis: This goes for all of you! The festival's right around the corner, and we're not even close to being ready. You guys better be able to give me a flawless performance right now.

Oookay, he's grumpy now. Maybe the best thing would be to do what he says, and then I'll think about what to do about his gun.

The others sigh in frustration and remain silent, looking away.  But I just stare at Louis.  It seems that unconsciously, I'm analyzing every movement, as if I were expecting a sign or something to run away.

It seems my gaze towards him is very fixed, because it doesn't take him long to realize I'm looking at him causing him to see me in the eye.  Those big eyes that show apathy but gentleness, are once again fixated on my mind.  His gaze stealthily reflects hidden enrage. Causing my gaze to show fear and nerves.

The gaze continues until the sound of a door interrupts the tension and silence between everyone.

Juno: Sorry!

We all turn to see Juno, who has finally arrived at the club, where she carries her change of clothes in a bag and shows the classic smile that lights up her face.

Juno: I'm a bit late!

All the tension seems to disappear between the people when she arrives, since most of them come to greet her and ask why she was late.  As if they were her best friends.

Juno: I'm sorry, my classmate who's a sloth really needed to use the restroom so I carried her there.

They all seem to admire her and compliment her on being a good person, agreeing with her and telling her there's no need to apologize.  She shows an innocent little and tender smile, as she's surrounded by her friends.

Juno: Oh, but there's no excuse for being late. I'll stay afterwards and clean the rehearsal room I don't mind.

Wow, see her standing there, being the center of everyone's attention, and receiving compliments and their kindness... It must be nice. 

I hadn't realized how popular Juno had become in a short time.  Her face shows happiness.  Definitely not the face she had the last time I saw her.  She seems calmer and more cheerful.  Maybe it's time to talk to her.

Juno: O-oh! Oh Legoshi!

They all go quiet and turn to look at Legoshi. He turns to see her in confusion.

Juno: I saw the dinosaur in the field. Thanks to the apartment's art work, the actors team can do our best and dance our hearts out!

Legoshi: Hm! I'm glad to hear that.

Legoshi stands next with his art mates and smiles, but they don't look so happy, she just congratulated him after all.

Kai: See how she's looking at Legoshi.

For a few seconds, almost nil, I see Juno looking at me seriously and then making a malicious smile.  As if she's rubbing something at me... She still seems mad at me. Then she turns to see everyone with a cheerful smile again.

Juno: The festival of the meteor is THE summer event! Let's all practice hard again today!

The rest of the people smile and cheer together with her. Practically, she asked for the same as Louis, but her charisma is what surpassed him. 

I turn to see Louis's gaze is now on her.  It seems he knows she can easily take away his leadership if she wanted to.. and because of the potential I've seen in her...

I can see that's how it'll be.
