CHAPTER 11: SUSPECTS

I see it's getting dark.  After I've played the violin for a long time behind a yard, hidden from the others, I finally put it away to go to my room.  I still gotta go to talk to Juno.  I carry my violin and head to my room.

Although playing the violin has calmed me down a bit, I'm still upset and nervous about everything that has happened.  Everyone fears and hates me, but if they don't, they see me as someone weak they can mess with.

As I walk, I look at the sky, the moon has already risen.  The moon has a beautiful blood red color again.  I would enjoy it if it didn't remind me of everything I've been through these past few days.

Losing the job I worked on during the night is giving me a lot of difficulties for me to stay here.  I'll have to go out and find another one soon, but What can I do?  I wont be able to go outside during the night with all this security, and i can't go during the day without an exit pass. Although this is a serious problem, I still worry more about what I'm going through in here.

I stop in front of a building with a lighted fountain, I lean against a wall and sit, still looking at the bloody full moon.

I feel the urge to find a way to prove my innocence.  All this time I've been thinking about finding a way.  But the only thing I can think of, is to be kind and charismatic, to act in a way that they get into trust.  But I'm not really good at it, and people won't start to trust me if I suddenly get very close to them, specially after they've heard rumors about me. I look down at the ground trying to focus.

I guess that's a way to begin.  Either way, I don't think I'll be able to have any friends after this.  But at least I could get some respect.  I should be leaving, I'll talk to Juno if she's not mad at me. So we can find a way to fix this.

I start to get up when I hear something.  Footsteps.  There's someone else here, but it's not the snake, since ... they don't walk but slide.  The footsteps I heard from Rokume I rather confused with his rattlesnake.  And I'm sure this footsteps isn't his rattlesnake. I confused it back then because I was panicking. Wait ... if there's someone else walking around ... Could it be...?

I hear the footsteps are getting more distant, they're moving away from where I am, whoever's walking, it's behind the fountain.  I look out to see who's there.  Thanks to the fact that I'm a nocturnal animal I can see without problem.  That person's a rabbit, a dwarf rabbit. Well .. I guess I'm just paranoid.

I'm about to walk around the building to head to my room when suddenly I hear those footsteps sound like they're running.  What happened there?  I peek out again to see what happens.  What I see is that suddenly a wolf jumps like a wild animal and attacks the rabbit.

WHAT THE-?! I hide behind the wall again as I spy on the wolf and the rabbit.  Wh-who is he?!  I try to take a closer look.  Scared, I walk slowly and quietly towards the wolf.  I can get to see his face a little more closely without him seeing me...

W-Wait a moment ... I .. I recognize that face.  He ... he goes in my classroom.  He goes in MY grade. He is ... he is Legoshi, I think ... He is that wolf that always goes with a forward head posture. He ... he's a quiet person ... So ... is the quiet one in the classroom the savage?  ... How ironic.  That's what they said about me.

I'm still standing here, being an idiot trying to recognize that wolf, it seemed that I'd forgotten for a few seconds that he is surrounding that rabbit.  He's ... he's just there, holding her, he seems to be talking, but he has a look ... a terrifying look on his eyes. I have to do something.  I can't stay still any longer.  He's going to DEVOUR HER!! JUST LIKE TEM!!

I react just in time, as I see Legoshi shows his fangs and begins to bring them closer to the rabbit.  THAT'S ENOUGH!  I clench my fists and hackle up again.  I take a breath to yell at that wolf to stop.

Z: LEGOSHI!

HUH?! I'm interrupted by a voice. I turn to see a goat that's leaving the building and running towards the wolf.

Z: PLEASE HELP ME!!

Wait what-what's going on? I see that Legoshi releases the rabbit and she manages to flee.  Phew!  That was a close one. The truth is I don't know what's happening, but I know that if someone hadn't intervened that rabbit would be dead.  I only see the wolf watching as she runs away. Then the goat gets to him.

I react and manage to hide in one of the columns of the building, but I keep spying. I see them enter the building.  I don't know what they're doing in there at that hour, specially when they've increased security.

Whatever it is, I don't care.  I just witnessed something.  Something that can save me.  That wolf ALMOST EATS a rabbit .... It seems to me that I found Tem's murderer ....

I look around, it seems that security cameras haven't yet been installed in this area ... Crap.  They won't believe me if I'm going to accuse a student who has been here longer than me without any evidence... Besides, I would give me away again by being here at night... I could try to find that rabbit who got attacked, but I didn't recognize her. I'll try to look for her tomorrow morning. For now she's gone, and I can't track her like a normal wolf.

It doesn't matter, I have my suspicions, I'll just have to wait for him to show another sign of savagery.  Once I get the evidence ... I'll stop him.  And so, they will stop seeing me as a monster. I discovered you Legoshi, I  won't let you hurt anyone again.
