CHAPTER 75: DYING WHILE TRYING

Y/N: ..What?

Legoshi: That's it, I can't let you keep fighting.

Legoshi stares at me in a way that doesn't show hesitation with what he says, showing me he's serious, still, I can see him worried. But I don't pay as much attention on his deep gaze at a time like these.

I give a sarcastic smirk when he says that, hoping it's some sort of joke or that he didn't mean it. But my little smile fades fast knowing that he's not joking.

Y/N: What? You know I'm not going to stop, right?

Legoshi: I know, but you've done enough. From now on, I take care of this myself.

Legoshi stops looking at me and turns to see the panda, who's holding some knocked out lions and tying them up before they wake up. Legoshi's still looking serious.

Legoshi: Gohin, can you take care of Y/N while I go after Haru?

Before the panda can say anything, I get between them, interrupting their plan.

Y/N: Hey, I'm not a little girl to be taken care of!

I complain to Legoshi, worried more than annoyed, although on the outside I show some resentment at what he's saying.

Y/N: I came here to help! And I've done it well! What? Do you hope to get there and play the hero? You won't make it alone! I'll go with you.

I try to walk past Legoshi but he stands in front of me, getting in my way.

Legoshi: No, you won't.

Instead of surrounding Legoshi and keep walking, knowing he'd only get in my way again, I face him, responding to his face with assertiveness.

Y/N: I'm stronger than you think!

Legoshi: I know you are! But like it or not, they're also strong and dangerous. Look at your injuries!

Just when he claims that, as a reality check, I hear a squeak in my ear again. But I hide my discomfort for now, though I let out a twitch in my ear. I don't plan on leaving him alone against the lion chief.

Y/N: This is nothing.

After saying that, he grabs my arm carefully but quickly.

Legoshi: And the scratches on your arms are nothing either? What about the bruises?

I turn to see my arm and it's true what he says, I have some scratches, and bumps, but they aren't more than that, I clench my fist even if I don't want to punch anyone.

Legoshi: What about your back? Is that nothing either?

Y/N: What's wrong with my back?

I turn to see my back as much as I can, I can only see the lower part of my back shortly before my tail begins. Even so that's enough to make me see the shirt I'm wearing is torn and stained with some blood, it is until I realize this that I start to feel a little burning in it.

Gohin: I warned you to check that wound.

Y/N: What?

Now I remember, I felt a strange chill down my back when I was fighting with a lion, almost at the beginning of the fight. Have I been with this scratch all this time without having feeling it? I guess the adrenaline has made me lose focus from the pain.

The panda gets up after tying up some gangsters and approaches us

Gohin: You're lucky the lion's scratch didn't damage any arteries and the wounds weren't so deep, otherwise you could not even be able to get up.
