CHAPTER 78: NO HARD FEELINGS

Legoshi: W-Wait ..

Haru and I turned to see Legoshi, who was between us and had stopped walking.

Legoshi, turned to see some park benches that we were passing, he looked at them as if they were a precious treasure.

Legoshi: I have... let me rest for a moment.

Haru: Oh.

The moment he said that, that's when I noticed Legoshi's exhausted breath, and his eyes  looked so tired.  How did I not realize this before?

Y/N: Yeah, okay.

Haru and I accompanied Legoshi to one of the benches, he didn't only sat down, but leaned on it. 

He was so exhausted that when he had barely laid his head on the wooden bench, he had fallen asleep almost instantly, his breathing changed from an exhausted one to a deep and slow one, and his face changed to a relieved one.

Haru sighed when she saw him this way and sat on the bench next to where he was sleeping, still keeping her eyes on him. 

I would have stayed standing there in front of Legoshi, to make sure he's okay, but my leg was throbbing again, as if it wanted to force me to stay seated.  So I sat next to Haru, holding my leg and not having so much view of Legoshi. I look up at the sky. The rainy clouds have disappeared, letting me see the stars on the sky.

We had walked for a couple of hours, not knowing where to go.  I understand Legoshi's tiredness. Since the morning, we had to move everywhere to find Haru, and then we had to fight with several lions and we ended up quite much.. beaten.  I'm surprised I'm not sleeping on another bench right now.

Haru is still looking at Legoshi, waiting for him to wake up.  Disttain from Legoshi's injuries...

I lean on the bench and look at him too. He looks hurt, he has a bite on his wrist, bruises and scratches on his body.  If I hadn't come sooner, could he have...?  I shake my head to forget that morbid thought. 

At least when he fell asleep, his breathing was normal despite the injuries he has, and he doesn't seem to be shaking, so it seems his injuries aren't so bad. I look at Haru, who still looks worried, so I try to calm her down.

Y/N: He'll be fine, his breathing is normal.

Haru doesn't turn to look at me, but turns one of her ears as a sign that she heard me.  It doesn't take long for her to answer me nervously.

Haru: I'd like to have some bandages or a kit so I could help you two..

She's still worried about him... even if I'm somewhat hurt, I don't want to worry her more than she already is.

Y/N: I'm fine, you don't have to-.

Haru: Why did you do it?

Y/N: Uh, what?

Haru: Why did you do such a dangerous thing to save ME?!

Haru finally turned to see me, with tears in her eyes, even though she seems to want to contain them.  She looks tense and her hands are shaking.  She feels guilty about everything that happened.  I see her shivering hands and although I doubt it at first, I hold them tight so  they stop shaking and I get to make her pay attention to me.

Y/N: Haru, we both love you so much,  you are my best friend.  How could we not save you?

Haru: ..How can you believe that?

She removes her hands from mine and holds them near her chest, looking back at Legoshi, who hasn't woken up yet.

Haru: How can you see me as a friend after what I did to you?

Y/N: ..What?

Haru: I.. I judged you, I-I thought you would be capable of.. that you ate..

Although it is true what she did now that I think about it, I cannot blame her, she saw me bloody, and after all those rumors I must admit I was very suspicious. I opened my mouth to speak, but she kept going.

Haru: I told Legoshi that you could've been the one who killed Tem a-and.. after that he fought with you.. I treated you like everyone else, believing in the rumors that have also done injustice to me.  I-I .. I completely forgot what I knew about you, and I ruined your friendship with the rest of your friends!!

She tried to wipe her tears with her forearm, but tears kept falling without stopping, her ears were lowered and she tried to sob quietly.

Now that I think about it, I never thought about that.  The whole time, I was blaming myself as much as she blamed herself.  If that's the case, then Haru must feel as much hatred in herself.. As much as I've done with me. I hold Haru by the shoulders.

Y/N: Haru, listen to me.

She looks up to see me with her black watery eyes, her tears reflecting the light from the park headlights.

Y/N: ..I would have doubted myself too.  You saw me with a bloody muzzle, it was too complicated to explain, and... I have had fits of anger against people-..

Haru: Do not justify a mistake as big as this one Y/N.. Please.

Y/N: It's ok Haru.. I DONT blame you. I never did.

I smile at her weakly.  She hesitates, but she nods her head and gives me a faint little smile.

Haru: Ok..

She sees Legoshi again, still asleep.  Her smile disappears and she looks down.

Haru: I.. know why Legoshi came.

Y/N: You do?

I answered automatically, it seems she wants to talk about something.

Haru: If I hadn't... If I hadn't chased Legoshi away when he tried to confess maybe... None of this would have happened.

Y/N: C-confess?

My heart skips a beat and my stomach feels like it's falling.  So... he has already wanted to confess his love to her... I shouldn't think about this now, none of them need any of this love triangle crap right now. Haru is feeling really bad about what happened, I have to cheer her up.

Y/N:  Hey Haru, none of us are dumb.

Haru: W-what?

Y/N: Yes, we went through all sorts of hell and fought gangster lions to save you, but I assure you, if we do that,  it's because YOU are a person worth saving.

Haru looks into my eyes in surprise, she smiles at me and a couple of tears come back.

Haru: ..Thank you.

Haru stretched her arms and hugged me. She hugs me as tight as a rabbit can hug, it hurts a little, but I ignore the pain and hug her back.  Hugging Haru, holding her close and seeing that she has no resentment against me, fills me with peace. 

A few seconds later we hear a couple of quiet grunts, both Haru and I turn to see Legoshi who's waking up.

Both: Are you okay?

Legoshi: Yeah.. I'm still alive.

Y/N: That's something.

Haru: Legoshi, I .. I'm very sorry about what happened

Legoshi: It's ok Haru. I just..

Haru and I fell silent and looked at Legoshi.

Legoshi: I really... I really need something to eat.

Haru: Huh?

As soon as he said that, Legoshi's stomach started to rumble.  I'm surprised that after all of this, he's thinking about food. But then, my stomach made noises too.
