Wala sa sariling naglalakad ako pabalik sa Headquarter, hindi pa rin makapaniwala sa narinig na usapan ni Dawson at Carrie. Nagsisilabasan na rin ang ilang mga estudyante but I was just walking absent-mindedly, may ibang nakakabunggo na rin ako pero parang wala na akong pakealam at patuloy lang sa paglalakad.
"Hey." I heard someone said, pero hindi ko na nilingon pa.
"Henrietta."
I only stopped when I realized it was Dawson. Wala sa sariling nilingon ko siya. I saw his eyebrows slightly furrowed when she noticed my expression.
He sighed as he walked passed through me, nang akala ko ay lalagpasan niya na talaga ako ay naramdaman ko ang mahigpit na hawak nito sa braso ko. Pinilit kong bawiin ang braso ko pero mas hinigpitan niya lang ang hawak dito. I just found myself letting him dragged me to I don't fucking know where.
Napansin ko nalang na nasa likod kami ng Academy. Naalala ko na dito ko siya unang nakilala, well technically as official student of Hurtville. Dito ko rin unang nakita ang ilan sa grupo nang gamitin ni Harper ang teleportation niya.
Nilingon ko si Dawson na ngayon ay pinagmamasdan lang ako habang nakasandal sa isa sa mga fountain.
"What's the matter?" He asked with his authorative tone. Mas lalo ko lang na-realize kung gaano siya ka-fitted para i-lead ang grupo. Not because he's the son of a powerful councilor but because he's capable of leading everyone. Lahat ay takot sakaniya, not because of his ability but because of his authorative presence.
"I saw you with Carrie." I said. "I heard everything."
He looked at me blankly.
"Why didn't you.. tell me?" Hindi ko sinadya pero sigurado ako na may hinanakit sa boses ko.
"About mere speculations?" Taas-kilay na pagbabalik niya sa tanong ko.
"You could've just told me! You had the idea all long! You knew it!" Pagalit na sabi ko.
"An idea, Henrietta." Mariin na sabi niya.
"But you know you were right!" I said. "I almost got killed for fucks sake!"
Dawson with his deep eyes just stared at me. Napapikit ako at kinalma ang sarili ko.
Natawa ako ng mahina. "Ofcourse you'll protect her. Ano pa bang gagawin mo?"
"I was protecting you more than anyone."
"Then you should've told me! The only one who can protect me is me." Mariin na sabi ko as I threw him a dagger look.
"Just like how we should protect ourselves from you?" He blankly said. Natigilan ako.
I inhaled sharply as I slightly nodded. "Right."
Bakit nga ba ganito ang reaksyon ko when in fact, I was the one who brought betrayals and danger in this place. I don't have the right to demand. He could expose me right now, I am trapped with them, there's no way I could escape.
"Why are you even doing this?" I asked more to myself than to him.
"You should just reveal the truth to everyone. I can't escape anymore, my life is all yours." Wala sa sariling sabi ko habang nakatingin sa kawalan.
