"I swear, I have never seen Cisco eat that many gummy worms in all of history.", she laughed.

Her smile. You were growing so fond of it.

You and Caitlin had both gone to Jitters for this coffee date.

"What?", she asked with a smile, which got you out of your daydreaming state.

"Nothing. Just admiring the view."

That compliment made her blush. It wasn't a lie. Sure, you were just getting to know her. But somewhere within it felt as if you had known her for a while.

"So. Y/N. Enough about me. Tell me about you."

"Ah. Where to begin? Lived with tons of foster parents. One in particular which, as you witnessed, was not too fond of me. Mostly trusted people, getting that trust shamed. Except with one guy. A good friend of mine. J.K. He was like a brother to me. Just us against the world."

She listened attentively to your every word.

"He had...troubles. Things that were on his mind. He had...hurt someone I really cared about. So I got mad at him. And in turn he...hurt himself."

You feel her hand softly make contact with yours, as she puts it on yours for comfort.

"You couldn't know Y/N."

"I know. I've made peace with that over the years. But somewhere. I get the idea that if I talked to him that night. He might've still been with us."

You look down at both your hands.

"But...that's not why we're here.", you say, with a smile.

"I went to college. In order to study foreign languages and become a teacher."

"Did you graduate?"

"No. I was able to talk all those languages fluently but geez. I did not know each word had so many meanings in different languages.", you laughed, getting a laugh out of her as well.

"In the end, I worked as tech support for a software company. Felt like I could somehow help people like that."

"Did you like that job?"

"I thought I did. But, some days. I just woke up and thought 'Is this really it? Is this my life now?'. I felt stuck more often than I care to admit. I didn't necessarily hate it, I just wanted...more."

"Like what?"

You looked at her. She knew she didn't have to ask that question.

"Like...a family. People I care about. Someone...special in my life.", you realized her hand hasn't left yours in the past few minutes. So you hold it and caress it softly with your thumb. A slight blush appears on her face with her trademark smile which could brighten up even the darkest of rooms in your eyes.

"I'm sure you'll find that special someone.", she said that, looking down at your hands.

You felt a twinge in your chest. A click. As if you didn't have any say in this, it just made up its mind as you sat there, looking at her.

And you were happy to oblige. You grabbed her hand with both of yours, which made her look up at you.

"Found you already.", you said. A shy smile adorning your face.

"But...Y/N. We've just met. How-"

"Not necessarily. You know, Caity. People in a coma still can hear sometimes."

Her eyes opened wide in panic. She wasn't all too sure what to think of that statement. But you knew.

Flashback:

"Whenever I see you in that vision, Y/N. I can't help but feel like this is forced upon us. And yet. Every day, when I come to see you. I start to see why that future might be real. I start to miss you once I'm out. And it feels unnatural. Yet, I find myself not caring and waiting for the moment you wake up. I want to see if it's real. What we feel in that future. And I sure hope it is."

End of flashback.

"You heard all that?", she said, her face filled with red. You just gave a light chuckle.

"Hey, you heard me talk in my coma, so in an odd way, we're even now.", she laughs a bit at herself after that statement.

You both walk out of Jitters and you start to guide her home.

"You sure Cisco didn't bug you in order to follow this date?", you asked.

"If he did, I'd ice him out of embarrassment.", you both laughed out loud after that statement.

It also reminded you of something.

"So uh. Odd question. Is Frost okay with this?", you asked.

"She's been oddly quiet. I think she just wants to give us some privacy. She'll definitely want to know all the details later though."

"You guys talk like best friends, huh?"

"More like talking to yourself in a really odd way.", she replies.

"Eh. I'm not one to judge that, considering I spoke to a part of my consciousness tied into an armor a while back.", you laughed.

She laughed with you. The sound of her laughter filled your ears as if it were music. And as with all songs. They must come to an end, as you were both standing in front of her door.

"So. Guess this is where I'll drop you off and head home.", you tell her, feeling all kinds of emotions rush through your chest.

"Guess so.", she smiled, looking at her folded hands. "I had fun today.", she said.

You looked at her. "So did I. Definitely redoing that. If you're up for it?", you ask.

"Yeah. I'd love that."

You both stood there. Your heartbeat was growing louder and louder within your chest. You looked at this woman, the one who trusted you, the one who kept you alive, the one who cared so much about you, that she'd visit you nearly every day for the past two years. And you felt...longing.

"I guess I should head inside.", she says in an awkward manner.

"I guess so. Unless I had superspeed and could slow this moment down so I could enjoy it more.", the words flew out of your mouth, causing a soft blush. You felt so much adrenaline, joy, happiness, just flowing through you, whenever you were near her.

She smiles. "I'll ask him if that's possible for another time. For now."

She walks closer to you and very softly plants a kiss on your cheek.

"Now, you need to get home. Get some rest. Training starts tomorrow."

"Aye, aye, captain.", you joked.

She went inside, saying goodbye and closing the door.

And within you, a warmth grew on this cold night.

Caitlin Snow had just kissed you.

And you loved every second of it.
