The Trial

You sat in the chair, prepped for you in the speed lab.

The armor standing in front of you, looking upon you.

"Alright, so run by me again how this works, what was it again, Nemesis?", Cisco asked the armor.

"I will allow Y/N within this armor. That will fuse our consciousness together. Then the trial begins."

Cecile moved beside you, something taking her breath away from what you can tell.

"Y/N. I can feel the fear from you. It's okay. We're all gonna be here, ready to pull you out, just in case."

"No", the armor intervened.

"If you pull him out, it could shatter his entire conscience. It is best he stays in to complete the trial."

"And what if I fail?", you asked.

The armor took a pause.

"Then, Y/N, you will be roaming your conscience for quite a while."

You feel Cisco stick something to your head.

"Is that the MAD, Cisco?", Caitlin asked.

"That, my friends, is the MAD 2.0, Nemesis edition. I have taken the time to calibrate it, so once you are doing this trial, we can communicate with you on a subconscious level. No thanks required."

This gave you some faith. Some hope. You looked around. At everyone.

"Once this is over. You better tell me how you guys trust me like this."

You felt a hand over yours. You looked to see it was Caitlins.

"We will. Promise." Her smile once more upon her face, her eyes seemingly...sparkling?

You looked the armor in its red eyes.

"Let's get this over with."

You close your eyes.

The next time you open them, you find yourself within this weird space.

"We have made it."

The voice now rings in your head. No armor to be seen.

"Not to worry Y/N. We have now connected your conscience and mine."

"So. What happens now. What is this trial?"

"You'll have to face what happened."

"Face what exactly?"

"All of it."

Time skip to you wandering about the place, seemingly not finding anything.

"You sure this trial is an actual thing?", you heard Cisco ask in an echo-y fashion.

"I heard that, Cisco."

"This is most certainly real. Y/N is just looking for an entrance.", the armor's voice sounded again.

"What entrance am I even looking for?"

"Remember. You have to face everything."

You were then reminded of it. Something that made you lose yourself.

In front of you, what seems to be a window, opened.

And so you went through.

You walk out in what seems to be a schoolyard. That old schoolyard. You hated the sight of it.

"Y/N? What do you see?", Barry's voice called out to you.

"Bad news.", you responded.

You saw yourself, walking towards the gate as the bell rung.
