Over the next couple of days, you learn from the television in your room about these superheroes that are spending day after day fighting crime.
The flash.
XS.
Elongating man.
Vibe.
And Killer Frost.
Every time you saw the last superhero you were intrigued to say the least. She had a certain air of familiarity around her, even on the television. As if you had seen her somewhere before.
The day before you are allowed out, a voice rings from the door as you are watching another report on the superheroes.
"Central City is glad to have them, you know?"
You looked over to the origin of the voice.
"So it seems." You say with a smile. "They really are out there helping people, aren't they? Man. I wish I had superpowers."
With this you see her shift a bit uncomfortably at saying that sentence.
"You okay, Caitlin?"
"Hm? Oh yeah, I'm sorry. Work at S.T.A.R. Labs has decreased my sleeping schedule so I might zone out from time to time. Nothing to worry about though."
She says that line with the same cute smile you've grown fond of seeing.
"So." She decides to speak up to cut through the silence between you two. "Have you made up your mind yet?"
"About coming to S.T.A.R. Labs? I did say I was gonna come over, didn't I?"
"Well, let's just say that I'm good at detecting hesitations. And you were showing a bit of that, Y/N."
You smiled. She was good. Detecting your hesitance before, just like that. That was a feat you were impressed by. Not because you are so good at hiding it, but the fact that she didn't pursue it then and there and left you time to think is what made you appreciate it so much.
"I have. I'm going to help you with the tests. If it means I can help some people out, then gladly."
For a second, you could swear her eyes lit up with sparkles at this mention of yours. Though it could be the lighting in this hospital.
"That's great. I can't wait to see you there. Can I already ask a couple of questions beforehand, if you don't mind?"
"I guess I need to kill the time in this hospital in some way. Go ahead, Caitlin."
She takes a seat next to your bed. As she sits this close, you can't help but look at her move closer. The dress she wore looked so good on her.
As she sat down she started asking multiple questions.
"So, has anything weird happened ever since the PA accident."
"The PA accident?"
"The Particle Accelerator explosion. I try to use abbreviations in order to not make it sound so...intimidating."
"Oh. Well. Nothing of note really. Though I'm sure being hit by a blast like that is not an everyday occurrence."
"Okay." She goes ahead and makes a few notes. "Have you had any...irregular emotions since waking up? Like mood swings or even going as far as feeling apathetic or..." she paused. "...depressed?"
You smiled. "Not more apathetic or depressed than before. I mean...I didn't feel depressed necessarily before all this but...life could've been better then. When I woke up, I knew my job was no longer gonna be there. God knows what happened to my apartment. I get hit by a blast and suddenly...it feels like I've been erased from existence for a while."
