The fight began as the mummified pharoah looked down upon you specifically.

"Hey, over here, asshole!", You yelled
He followed you as you ran to the side of the area and sliced up bits of his badaged arm.

"You sure you want to grab its attention?", Frost yelled as she threw a few iceknives at Khaz Dul.

"Yes! The nemesis was designed to be a tank after all!"
As you said this, you saw Khaz Dul reel his arm back, ready to slam down on you.

You remembered a barrier spell, so you swiftly did the movement to activate it as a dark blue barrier temporarily shined over you.
The hand came down and the barrier shattered, barely managing to stop the arm from squishing you completely.

"We need to stop this!", Yelled Frost. "This is dangerous!"

"Come on, snowflake! This is supposed to be fun!", You laughed.
Khaz Dul waved his hand as five purple orbs hovered around his head and now made their way towards you.

You used your blade to deflect them all back. As they made their way back, Frost walked closer towards you, ice projectiles making their way to the boss with each step.

"We could get hurt! Y/n!"

But you didn't listen. This has been a dream for so long. Fighting a dungeon boss in real life with real powers. You were having fun with this. A smile crept upon your face as for a while, you forgot about everything and just let the fury of combat take your focus. Strike after strike, spell after spell. You felt at ease. Almost comfortable, as if you were playing the game again.

You only noticed her when she bumped against you.

"Y/n! We need to find a way out!"
You looked at her briefly, but that would be a mistake.
As you turn back you saw the hand reel back again. Another slam. And Frost was too close.

"Frost, move out of the way!!"
"No! You need to listen"
"Snowflake, I-"

You looked back up. The hand was on its way. You cast another barrier but not on yourself. On Frost. When you were done you just raised your blade flat upwards in protection and begged.

Slam

When the dust settled, you laid on the ground, clutching to your blade still. But your breath was weak.

"Y/n!", Frost yelled as she made her way towards you.

You turned slowly as you felt pain erupt in many parts of your body. You groaned in pain.

"Welp. That hurt...", You half-joked.
"We need to leave!", She almost begged.

You stuck your blade into the ground and used it to heave yourself off the ground.

"No.", You simply said. Your armor rattled just a little as you finished getting up and pulled the blade once again out of the ground.

"No?! Are you insane?! This thing will kill us before we even realize it!"

"Or. We beat it. And I get the EXP necessary to protect everyone."
You turned to her as you saw a quizzical look on her face.
For a second, you thought avout everything. But for you, there was only one solution.
For her, however...

"Snowflake. You didn't sign up for this. So if you don't want to do this, then you can leave. I won't think lesser of you, nor Caity. But I can't. I need to do this."

You turned, putting the blade on your shoulder, looking up at the boss.

"You yet live, Nemesis! Consider me impressed! But your armor can only take so much, as can you! I am eternal! I am immortal! And you will be the first to be enslaved into my undead army!!"

The same taunts and the same dialogue from within the game. You just scoffed as you readied your blade.

"Then tell me. How did I already succeed at beating you?"

No response came, as apparently the game didn't prepare for actual dialogue. No matter.
You looked back as Frost rejoined you by your side.

"You already beat this guy?", She asked as her hands exhumed cold energy once more.

"Yes. His weak points are the bracelets on his hands. I simply got unlucky just a second ago. But, considering I've trained differently now..."

Another strike was wound up as you ran off to the side. Frost split away from you, aiming ice spikes towards the bracelets.
The strike came for you as you once again shielded yourself. As the barrier was struck and dissolved, you jumped up and grabbed onto the arm, striking at the bracelet.
"Gotcha!"
You climbed op unto the arm, readying your blade as a red energy trailed off of the openings in your armor.

"What is this?! A fly upon mine body?! I will squash you!"

The bosses hand was making it's way towards you as you were counting down.
The hand fell downas once again smoke emanated from the point of impact.

"Y/N!!", yelled Frost.

But when she looked up, she saw a red glimmer. As you flew down, your plan had worked. The boss had struck his own bracelet off. And you were falling towards the last one.

As you landed, you brought your blade down in its empowered state, as it now destroyed the last bracelet.

"Aaagghh!! Curse you, Nemesis!!"

You simply turned towards the boss and jumped towards him, slashing him in his face, with a mighty roar.

It was over within seconds. You landed on the platform. Frost ran over to you cheering, as the surrounding area once appeared normally.

You looked up as the blade disappeared from your hand.

"That was...", Was all you muttered as you fell back onto the ground, exhausted.

Timeskip back to the lab.

You woke up in the med bay, shaking your head slightly, attempting to get rid of the headache.

"Man. I really need to stop blacking out after every fight.", You joked at yourself.

"No need to tell me that!", A half-angry voice spoke. You looked to its source. Caity. Of course.

"Caity. I-"
"NO! Shut up! My turn to speak!"
You looked around to see Barry still lying in his own bed, still knocked out cold.

"Is that how you want to end up?", Caitlin asked.
The question took you by surprise. You turned to see her eyes, filled with tears.

"Caity..."
"No! Don't 'caity' me. Why do you always want to sacrifice yourself? Why do you always go and attempt to play the hero? This isn't like the video game, Y/N!"

She cried and sobbed as she spoke. You had messed up, big time.

"If this is how you are going to go about things, then I'm not sure any of this is a good idea.", she said softly. But the words pierced your heart. You felt your chest ache as she said them.

"Caitlin. I... I just wanted to complete this. I just wanted to get the EXP and be able to face the other armor. I don't want him to hurt any of you any more."

"I get that! But sacrificing yourself for us won't make things any better.", she spoke.

"But I love you. I don't want him hurting you. Not him, not Cicada, not anyone.", You tried.
"And I love you too. Me and Frost. But I just...I don't want to lose you. And the way you keep going about things, you seem set on that."

There was silence between the two of you.

"Caity. What are you saying?"
"I just... I need some time.", She said as she left.

And for once, in a long while, your chest ached before feeling empty.
