First boss

You ran up to the core, right next to Cisco.

"What do we have, Cisco?"

"Take a look at this, Y/N."

You saw a live video feed from a location you didn't recognize, seemed like some sort of back street, but what you saw was enough to catch your attention.

"Is that what I think it is?", you asked.

You saw the big green creature, which seemed like a huge meat bag with a huge wooden bat on its shoulder. A giant rusted steel shoulder pad, a leathery eye patch, and long red dreadlocks of hair.

Cisco rummaged through a couple of papers, found an image, and handed it to you.

"Grak Strongceps. Sound familiar, Y/N?"

You knew this name. "It was the first boss of that game. That was the moment I was blasted by the particle accelerator. I was fighting him in the game."

"Looks like more came out of that game than just your powers."

You looked at the video continuing.

"He's gonna start attacking soon.", you said.

"How so?", Frost asked.

"It's his pattern. Watch how he's just toying with his weapon, swinging it nonchalantly. He's making himself a target. Anything that comes close becomes a red smear. Not happening on my watch. Cisco, how do I get over there."

"Barry could take you, but are you ready to fight that thing?"

"I can summon weapons, shields, I've got my bolts."

"And, you have another ability at this "level.", he says, handing you a paper.

You look at it, realizing it's the ability tree from within the game. Every icon like it was in the game, some sort of object or image with a red background.

"Currently, you're the level you had within the game during the blast, being level 5. The max level was 20. So each level, your powers will gain new options, just like in the game. That's my theory anyway."

You look at the icon at level 5. A human in what seems to be a dark looking cloud. 

"The ability to mitigate some damage. It was pretty strong from what I remember."

"Yes, but the thing is the cooldown was over 2 minutes. In MMO terms, that ability is an 'Oh shrap-button'. Using it could mean the difference between life or death. Also, read the flavor text, because it might translate other things to our world as well."

Cisco seemed to know a lot about this. You had a look at the text of this new ability's text.

You have gotten to the point where you can tap into your 'dark part' in order to make your body far more resilient. These dark energies will be able to keep you safe through some damage sources. Using this means your character will be temporarily immobilized, but will not fall under 1HP as long as the ability is up.

"1 HP...Really knocking at death's door. It only lasts for a few seconds. No idea how to activate it. Guess I'll have to try some things out for this, next training."

You turned around, Frost getting ready to go behind you.

"Frost...please, don't come with me."

"Excuse me??"

"Don't get it wrong. I just...I just want to see neither of you getting hurt."

"We won't get hurt. I wiped the floor with you during training."
