Wake up

You woke up in S.T.A.R. Labs.

Cisco sat next to you with a worried Nora and Barry to their side.

You tried getting up but found out that it was a bad idea, considering the pain that shot through  your body.

"Hey, hey. Calm down.", Cisco said as he got closer to check up on you.

"Where is she?", you asked.

Everyone became silent but they looked behind you.

You turned and saw a second bed. An unconscious Frost laid there with a monitor beeping next to her.

The sight felt horrible.

"No...", was all you could say.

You tried getting back up again, this time biting through the pain.

The three of them tried to hold you but it couldn't be helped. Within minutes, feeling as sore as you have ever felt in your life, you were by her side.

"That one was meant for me. It should have been me.", you muttered.

"Y/N. That doesn't matter. She's healing. Her super-healing will take care of it.", Cisco said, a genuine tone to his voice.

"I hope so.", you said as you held her hand.

A few seconds later you stumbled back and placed yourself back on the bed.

"You were out for about an hour when Nora brought you back in. Whatever that ability was, it saved you. With your injuries, we wouldn't normally be able to keep you alive but here you are.", Cisco explained.

Barry put a hand on your shoulder.

"You're beating yourself up. I can see it. But don't do that. Frost and Caitlin both still hold you in high regard, more than any of us here."

"How would you know that for sure, Barry?"

"Because she was willing to come with us on that fight. And...she whispered your name, whilst she was out."

You looked at him, concern in your eyes, not sure whether to believe him. You looked back at Frost. You hoped she would wake up soon.

"I feel tired.", you said, a bit woozy.

"That's the medicine doing its job. Lay down, buddy. Get some rest. We'll wake you in case something happens.", Cisco said.

So you laid down and slept for a bit.

Timeskip to where you wake up.

You groaned a bit as your eyes opened. The pain had subsided somewhat. You turned over and saw Caitlin sit on her bed looking at you.

You got up in an instant.

"Caitlin..."

She was surprised by your sudden movement, as you got closer and grabbed her hand.

"Are you hurt? Are you feeling okay? Are you up for a long time already? I'm so sorry. I should've done something. Do you feel any pain anymore? It's all my-".

She put a finger on your lips.

"Don't finish that last sentence. I am feeling fine. We both simply needed some rest. It's okay."

Tears formed within your eyes. She still smiled at you in the same way. But you felt like you didn't deserver it. You looked at her hand.

"I'm so sorry...", you said.

"Y/N. It's okay. It's what we do. Besides, now I get to tell how I went toe to toe with a real ogre. That's going to make for an amazing story.", she said triumphantly.

You smiled, wiping away some tears. And now it felt right. It felt like everything had fallen into place. You looked up to her.

"Caitlin. I've given everything a bit of thought. The vision of the future, team Flash, these powers. Cisco has told me about a meta cure, a few days ago."

Her face seemed to sadden a bit when you said that.

"But that's not what I want."

This made her look back at you.

"In that future, the ring you wore. Us being together. You being my...my fiancée. That's what I want. And I think I've spent enough time out cold to have given it some proper thought.", you smiled at her. Her eyes seemingly sparkling a bit, you both unwary of the fact you were still holding hands. You leaned in closer.

"I want you, Caity. And Frost too. I want us. No matter what the future brings."

She smiled at you, a tear running down her face.

"I want that too, Y/N. I really do.", she leaned in closer to you as well.

And that's when your lips touched. It felt so good to you. Your hair feels like it was setting off fireworks, your heart beating as if trying to reach hers.

As you both let go for air, you still touched noses and foreheads as you softly laughed.

"Frost did say you got dibs on the first kiss.", you laugh softly.

She smiles again, "I had to lay down some ground rules."

"You explain the rules to me, I'll follow them.", you said, kissing her again and embracing her.

"I'm yours.", you whispered. "For now and always."

Her soft smile rang like music in your ears. "You're pretty cheesy."

"Eh, I'm a cheesy guy. Better start getting used to it.", you laughed.

After a while, she laid her head on your shoulder and you both just sat there in peace.

"Oh crap.", you whispered to yourself. "With all this time I've been out cold, I don't even own an apartment anymore."

She nudged you softly. "As if you were going to spend many more nights alone.", she said with a wink.

"Think I can crash at Cisco's?", you ask playfully, which got you a slap on the arm back.

"So not funny.", she said smiling at you.

"No. You're staying with me and Frost.", she stated.

"You sure? I mean, I can always knock myself out cold and stay here in the lab.", you joked.

"We're sure. I feel like this future of ours is just getting started. And if you don't mind, we'd like to enjoy every moment of it.", she kissed you, then she got up.

"So pack your stuff. You're moving in.", she said cheerily.
