You wake up softly. The faint beeping of the heartrate monitor woke you.
You look over to her. Still no change. You had fallen asleep about...2 hours ago. Before that you had spent your time either here or in the speedlab. Training. Getting ready. You needed to get this frustration, this anger out of your system.
Your power came from emotion. This turned out to be more than true. The speed lab was able to withstand your blows. The training targets...not so much.
Your blasts had gotten bigger. At one point, you had been able to disintegrate a target.
Footsteps sounded from the hallways behind you. A few seconds later Cisco and Barry came in.
"Y/N? You didn't go home at all? Did you at least sleep?", Barry asked.
"I'll be fine.", was all you said.
Their faces turned to concern. But you didn't care. All you cared about was Frost being able to wake up again.
"She hasn't moved at all.", you began, "Her breath and heartbeat are just as steady as yesterday. But no signs of waking up. If she hadn't joined me yesterday... If it wasn't for me..."
A hand put itself upon your shoulder. Then another one placed on the other.
"You can't think like that. You couldn't have known.", said Barry.
"Maybe. But if she wasn't with me she wouldn't be lying here like this."
"True.", said Cisco, "then she'd be kicking your butt and showing you every single corner of the speed lab."
He smiled. He wasn't wrong. She hated it when you went on a mission on your own.
A new set of steps echoed through the halls. And a voice which started to make you just a bit aggravated spoke.
"Y/N... We have a new lead on his location."
Lyla Michaels. She stood ik front of you but not with her normal posture. This one seemed insecure, as if she was trying to excuse herself for breaking something.
"Where?"
"The airport. He's leaving Central City."
"Like hell he is.", you muttered as you passed by her.
You wanted him to suffer. You were tired of letting him take everything for you.
You were walking outside when Barry ran in front of you.
"Y/N. Don't do anything stupid."
"Stupid?! She's in a coma because of him! She may never wake because of him! If anything, this might be the smartest thing to do! So no one else gets hurt."
"Thats not how we do things!"
"So what? Suppress him? Bring him in? Without any consequence, just waiting to break free?"
Barry looked at you in awe. "You're supposed to be her hero.", he said.
"And I failed.", you responded softly, choking on the words. You remember her eyes, filled with fear as you tumbled down. And then they remained closed.
"If it wasn't for you, she would be laying in a grave", Barry said.
You looked away. Sure that was true. But maybe then she wouldn't have found out about this guy.
"Don't start blaming yourself like this. Because I know that it will only bring you more pain than relief. She needs you to be here when she wakes up. They both do."
