"I'm getting that model back!"
You said it out loud whilst walking back into the room. This turned everyone's head towards you.
"Really? After you lost it?", Lyla snapped.
"Yes. I'm the one who didn't keep an eye out, it's my job to bring it back. Got any idea on a location?"
She looked down a bit. "I don't. I could get it to you by the end of the week. I'll need it back that day."
"Perfect. I'll keep training until then."
Lyla looked at you. "The information will be available soon. Don't let me down again."
She stormed off. Everyone just looked at you, pride in Caitlin's eyes as she did.
"Man, you really stood your ground there.", Cisco said.
"I solve my mistakes. Plain and simple."
You walked off towards the speed lab.
"If anyone's looking for me, I'll be training."
You felt a hand reach your arm.
"No, you're not. We are going out for dinner.", said Caitlin sweetly.
"With pleasure.", you said.
You were about to step out as Cisco suddenly cleared his throat.
"I still need to show Y/N something."
"Can't your Star Trek models wait?", she said with a pouting face.
Cisco looked awkwardly at you and you made a face that indicated "I had to say something."
"No, it can't. I need his expertise on building models.", he put a smug smile on.
"You build models, Y/N?", she asked suspiciously.
"Used to. I had tens of thousands of models back in the day. Too bad my dad smashed them all. So now I'm glad I can help Cisco out."
"You never said anything about that."
"Eh, it's a passion that died out over the years. I have a different passion now.", you said as you held her chin up and looked her in the eyes. The blush on her cheeks gave away that you got away with it.
"I'll be right with you snowflake. Won't take long. Promise."
You kissed her softly. As she let go, she smiled and nodded, before walking off.
Cisco, in the meantime brought you to his lab.
"Cisco, you better have a good reason about making me lie to Caitlin."
"How about interchageable abilities?", he said quickly, sitting near his computer.
"Come again?"
"I had gotten an alert I inserted into your ability tree. In case you got upgrades, so I could let you know. But when the alert did go off, I got this."
He pointed at the screen which now showed your abilities again, but there was a small change. One ability had a different backdrop color, light blue, and it had a running man depicted on it.
"What's that?", you asked.
"When the player activates this skill he can move at insane speeds for a short period of time. This skill is only available to the monk class, Y/N. You just switched an ability."
"Which did it replace?", you asked.
"Your hoverboard.", he said calmly.
"Aw man. That thing was cool.", you said with a sad face.
'You switched it out. Train enough and you might get it back.", he said with a smile.
"Or I could get the wing, to fly around"
"Easy, young skywalker. Thats still a few levels away."
You both shared a short chuckle.
"Tomorrow?", he asked.
"Tomorrow.", you responded with a nod.
Timeskip to the restaurant
You two were sitting at one of the tables outside the restaurant. You had both enjoyed a great dinner and settled on a coffee to end the dinner experience. Caitlin had placed her chair besides yours and was now leaning onto you, you both looking at traffic passing by.
"Oh. Cisco says he needs us at the speed lab tomorrow. A test of some new device he created.", she said softly.
"Oh really? Wonder what he invented this time.", you said, knowing all too well what he created.
"He said it was gonna be life changing."
"Oh really? Then it truly has to be. Can't wait to see what he's cooked up.", you said with a smile.
You put your arm around her and you both sat comfortably, enjoying the evening sky and the slow passerby traffic.
"Caity?"
She turned her head towards you.
"Could you tell me why you fell in love with me? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love every second of it but...why did you at the hospital? During the vision of the future? I'm not that special."
As you said those last words she put her hand softly on your cheek, running her thumb over it.
"I saw you in that bed for a long time, Y/N. When Cisco was checking your vitals he had that vision. When I looked at you every time after, I felt that you'd always try to protect me. Always try to be there for me. You'd move heaven and hell, just to make sure I'm okay."
She softly kissed you, a quick peck on your lips.
"So why wouldn't I fall in love with that? If you had woken up and turned out to be different, then that was too bad. But you're a hero, Y/N."
"Caity...I'm not a hero. You're the only reason I do this. Your safety. A future with you. Sometimes I wonder what I'd do if...if something happened to you. And I'm too afraid to answer that question."
"That's okay. Frost and me feel the same way.", she put her hand on yours and rested her forehead against yours.
"But we need to trust each other. That one will always make their way back to the other. That we won't give up on each other, no matter what. I'm sure you and I can do that."
A smile was on her face as you let your worries pass by and kissed her softly.
"How are you becoming more amazing each day?", you asked with a smile.
She just laughed softly and leaned back against you.
"Guess it's in my genes.", she said.
And so you spent the rest of the evening together, her oblivious to your plan.
