Chapter 22

     "Vernon what would you like to order?" Jisoo asked Vernon. They had planned to meet up at a cafe for they had many things to catch up on and to explain.

   "An Americano would be nice" Jisoo nodded and then proceeded to order the same kind of coffee with a piece of red velvet cake. After doing that, they went to sit on a table. Vernon sighed.

   "It's really been so long...I don't know were to start"

   "A year isn't that long you know" Jisoo chuckled while taking a sip from his drink.

   "But it's enough to cause change" Vernon smiled. "So what have you been up to Joshua?"

   Joshua sighed. "Not much, I recently moved to Korea so my life hasn't unfolded a lot yet"

   "Really? Nothing interesting?"

   "If being pushed around by people is considered interesting then let's say just that" Vernon's look turned dark.

   "Don't tell me...."

   "No, this time it's not like that" Joshua gave a sad smile. "It's very different now" Silence took over.

   Vernon placed his drink down. "I...found out about what happened"

   Joshua shighed. "News travel fast don't they..?"

   "Why did they do that? I thought you did everything they told you to do"

   Joshua sadly smiled. "True, I sacrificed a lot for them. Even our friendship" Joshua looked at Vernon. "Pretty stupid right?"

   Vernon gave a sad smile. "Yeah.." He chuckled. "I can still remember how you beat him up tho, it was hilarious"

   Joshua laughed. "It really was, but..." His eyes narrowed. "Thanks to that, I lost the only thing I had left"

   Vernon had a serious yet sad expression. "What happened to him?"

   "That bastard is where he deserves to be, rotting like the trash he is in prison" Vernon hummed in agreement. "Seriously, why did I date him? Everything would've stayed the same if I had just stayed still and ignored his flirtatious words"

   "We all make mistakes Shua" Vernon held the olders' hands.

   "I know but, I really messed up on this one" He felt a tear fall from his eye and quickly wiped it away. "Sorry, it's just.. I've been trough so much Vernon, all by myself, and now that I finally start fresh I can't help but ignore my past you know. The nightmares are really getting to me every single night, and I just don't know what to do.."

   "I really suffered a lot all because I fell for a criminal"

   Jeonghan couldn't understand them well for they were talking in English, but one thing was sure, he was getting closer to finding about Jisoo's past . Wonwoo and him were listening to their conversation while Wonwoo recorded it to later translate it. The table the other two had chosen wasn't that far away which allowed them to get a good listen to it.

   "Look Joshua, you've really changed. The you back then would probably look at me with pity. But look at you now! You're the Joshua I know and remember"

   "Thank you Vernon" Joshua warmly smiled. Once Jeonghan saw that he felt an unfamiliar feeling linger in him. It certainly wasn't the same one as the morning tho; jealousy perhaps?

   "But enough about me, where have you been?" Joshua asked the younger.

   Vernon scratched the back of his neck. "After that day, I came back to Korea as you know and kind of lost all my connection with you. I was really mad back then"

   "I wouldn't judge you for it" Joshua took a sip from his drink.

   "Then, I found your uncle here in Korea, after that he told me about your case"

   Joshua placed his drink down. "I'm glad he did, I really needed to see you again Vernon"

   "Me too Joshua" They both smiled. Wonwoo motioned for Jeonghan to follow him and they both sneakily left the cafe. Jisoo's laugh could be heard from afar and Jeonghan frowned upon that. He really didn't know a lot about "Joshua".
