Chapter 34

Back to the present

Joshua ran to the scene with Seungkwan further behind him.

   Why did this always happened to him? If he didn't hurry, his best friend would end up hurt. And Joshua didn't want that. No, he didn't want to see it again.

   As a result, he turned around the corner and found Mingyu cornering Vernon to a wall, blood coming out of the younger male's nose as he narrowed his eyes because of the pain. His right cheek was bruised and painted with a deep purple as if he had taken a hard punch with it.

   "Vernon!" The oldest screamed, his voice getting the attention from the taller two.

   "Well well well, look who decided to show up" Mingyu smirked. "If it's no other than Joshua Hong am I right?" His mocking voice caused Joshua to feel a vein pop on his forehead.

   "Let him go" He said sternly.

   "And what are you planning to do? Beat me up with slaps to the face like you did last time?" Mingyu laughed. "I don't know if you know this about me, but, I am one of the most feared students in this school because of my strength, a well respected figure here unlike the loser you are"

   Joshua smiled and shrugged. "If you call being made fun of because a "loser" slapped you in front of everyone during lunch is something you call being "respected"" He grinned. "then I understand that way too well, if I do say so myself"

   Mingyu tsked. "It didn't even hurt!"

   "Hmm, I'm not too sure about that..If I remember correctly you fell to the ground with a hand mark on your cheek" Seungkwan pffted behind him. "Oh! And may I remind you about the patch you had to wear all day?"

   Mingyu threw Vernon to the side and walked over to Joshua, grabbing him by the collar once he had reached him.

   "Well aren't you a cocky one?"

   Joshua spat in his face. "Of course not, just stating facts"

   Mingyu pushed him and threw a fist directly to his face. Unable to properly doge in time, Joshua received it and felt his cheek sting in pain after doing so.

   "Still feeling superior Hong?" Mingyu smirked. "I can do this all day~" At received zero replies from the older, he tsked and headed over to Vernon, picking him up once again as he smiled in the process. "You're such a boring person to play with, so why don't I play with your little friend instead?"

   In an instant, Joshua turned to look at the other two and widened his eyes as Mingyu landed a punch on Vernon's face. Because of his lack on stamina, all Vernon could do was receive the countless of merciless punches thrown at him.

   "How's that?!" Mingyu turned to Joshua. "Still want to stay still and have a conversation with the floor?!"

   However, once Joshua looked up, Mingyu felt a shiver run down his spine. Joshua had a wicked smiled plastered all over his face; as if his chains had snapped in half and his mind had gone blank.

   "How funny.." Joshua smiled. "You want to play?! Then I'll show you how!!"

   In a swift motion, he slapped Mingyu to the ground and stood over him as he held onto his hair. Once he had done so, he threw countless of fist over to the younger's face. Mingyu winced as he received each one and felt his eye and lip swell because of the strength being put in.

   As soon as Jun saw how the tallest one there couldn't move much because of the swelling obstructing his field of vision, he launched himself over to Joshua, only to be received with an elbow to his stomach. Joshua turned around and set his eyes over to his next victim as Seungkwan ran over to Vernon who was laying on the floor at the moment. He grabbed Jun's face and directed it towards his knee, taking the chance that he was completely bent over to hit him with his elbow on his back.

   Mingyu shivered in fear as he watched all that happen before him. And just when Joshua turned around to direct his attention to him, he held his hands up in a signal of defeat.

   "Please stop!" He yelled. "We didn't mean to!"

   "Stop?" Joshua chuckled and pointed at Vernon. "Did you listen to him when he was asking the same thing to you?!" Joshua smiled. "I don't think so"

   "We really don't have anything to do with this!" Mingyu plead. "We were just following our boss's orders!!"

    Joshua arched an eyebrow. "Boss..?" He huffed. "Yeah right, like if you didn't want to do it by yourself"

   "It's true!" Jun said from the side. "Jeonghan told us to beat you!"

   "He did!" Mingyu said. "He has always had his eyes on you! He gave us this idea in the first place!"

   "..what?"

   "We're not lying! You can even ask him himself!"

   Joshua headed over to Mingyu and punched him once last time in the face. "I'm not willing to fall for useless lies again, so why don't you shut your mouth for once?"

   "But it's true.." Mingyu said as he passed out. "He wanted to do this...he wanted to hurt you..why do you think he approached you in the first place?!"

   "That's right!" Jun screamed. "Ask him!"

   And just as he was about to throw a fist over to Jun, he heard the sounds of steps rapidly approach him from behind. Suddenly, two arms held him by the waist and pulled him to it.

   Joshua felt himself flinch and quickly turned his head around only to meet a worried, yet panicked, face.

   "Jeonghan...?"
