CHAPTER 32

I'm lost in my own world when I feel a tap on my shoulder, when I turn to look I'm met by an old version of Kyle, I guess that's Kyle's dad, alongside him is a middle aged woman, her face is full of makeup and I guess she's a bitch already maybe she's the bitch that harassed Nicole yesterday, and a girl  I guess aged sixteen .

" Hey I'm Richard Parker, my wife Charlotte and my daughter Shillah who are you? They told me you wanted to see me?"
" Oooh yeah, I'm Maya Alice Njeri, I'm Nicole's flatmate,uuhm her sister, its nice to meet you Sir"
" Nice to meet you too, Nicole and Kyle were involved in a car accident, and someone forcefully pushed them from the road, I don't know  who's that,  but  the police are still working on it"
"It was in the news, I'm also wondering why someone would want them dead, it's not like they're having enemies or maybe they were after Kyle, he's a business man you know"
"Are you suggesting my son deserved to be involved in that accident huh and who are you to meddle into our family's business, that bitch is the cause of everything Maybe it's her stupid ex boyfriend who's after her for dumping him and going for my rich son?" Finally the bitch gets her tongue and I can't let her step on my toes , I'm not Nicole, so I'm going to defend the both of us

" Hey listen here woman, I'm not naive as Nicole, she's been through a lot and I demand respect for her, she might be poor but she's human, when her family died I was there with her, I've been watching and helping  her mould into the fierce and courageous woman she is now, both her and Kyle are in love and you just in denial, you don't want to see your son with a poor girl, what has she done to you that you loathe her that much huh, no one chooses his/her destiny, fate just catches up with us, both her Kyle are in there fighting for their lives and the only thing you can do is blame Nicole for the accident, you should be ashamed of yourself, you're a disgrace to women" I say angrily at her.
" Relax Maya, we are at the hospital , despite we should be praying for them to get better not hurling abuses at each other like teenagers, and for you Charlotte, you're a shame  , please just go home and remember you're the last  person Kyle wants to set his eyes on" Richard says calmly and  Charlotte makes to answer him back
" I'm his mom ,so I'll stay, you don't get to order me around just because of this bitch and her so called friend lying lifelessly in the hospital bed, I wonder if she'll afford the hospital bill after she gets better, well that is if she recovers or she'll probably join her dear family in hell"
I gawk at her, I swear I just wanna pounce on her, and teach her a lesson but for the respect I have for the old man , I step back.
" Charlotte that's enough" Richard moves and slaps her hard across her face and she faces him surprised
" You slapped me?!" She asks still surprised
" Yes and I'll slap you again if you continue behaving like a little bitch, now get the fuck out before I teach you how to behave your age, you disgust me!"

With that, he orders the security to drag her out.
He turns to me ,all this while their daughter has been quiet only sending her mom spiteful glares

" I'm sorry for that, she can be a bitch sometimes"
With that he walks away promising to talk to the doctors to allow me in when they're done at the surgery room. Shillah stays back and sits on the bench with me
" My mom is a total bitch I even wish she never gave birth to me, I wonder what Nicole did to her to make her hate her this much, the few hours I've been with Nicole ,I've learnt a lot about her, she's a sweet soul"
" I've stayed with Nicole for almost ten years now, no one hates her, she's an angel and gets along with almost everyone, maybe your mom is the only person she can't get along with, I'm also wondering why your mom hates her guts, I just hope she recovers soon I miss her already,and your brother too, such a gentleman" I say to her and she nods in agreement

We spent the rest of the time talking and getting to know each other better, Adrian joins us later and I wonder how I managed to wait for almost 8 hours without feeling sleepy.

So currently, Shillah is seeing Adrian's younger brother who just joined campus late last year, when Adrian joined us, I was surprised to learn that  they know each other. Shillah promises to visit us once everything is over and I thank God at least a sane person came from that family, well apart from Richard and Kyle, Charlotte is bad news

I ended up sleeping on Adrian's laps , Shillah is nowhere to be seen when I wake up in the morning, the doctors were still working on both Kyle and Nicole. A few minutes later a doctor walks towards us and my heart starts pumping instantly, I'm only hoping for the best

'"morning doctor ,how's the going, I ask expectantly"
" Morning too, you're Maya right?"I nod in response and he continues, "your friends'  surgery had been successful but they're both in coma for now you can go see them, Nicole I'm room 305 and Kyle is in room 306"
" Thanks doc"
" Ooh and family only"
" He's my boyfriend" I answer him and he only nods

Adrian rubs my hands reassuringly as enter Nicole's hospital room.

Nicole is lying on the bed lifelessly with the Oxygen machine connected to her, the tears that have been threatening to fall now find their way, Adrian hugs me and I cry even more. I never wanted to break down and be this weak but her current situation is so traumatizing i just can't help it
