CHAPTER 44

" That was really dramatic, don't you think so?"

Caren asks me and I furrow my brows looking at her skeptically. Like what does she mean dramatic huh?

" Dramatic you say, Caren you and I both know that bitch crossed her limits and I had to put her right where she belongs"

" Okay okay, I'm sorry I just thought it brought too much attention but respect is paramount as we all know"

She says in surrender and I thank God she kept her mouth shut otherwise I would have shown her my true colors, she thinks I'm such a loser.

We're at a secluded spot on furthest table at  the corner of the restaurant, we still have like 45 minutes before we head back to the office and I think it'll be better if we catch up it's been a while since  when we had the girls time ,almost seven months to be precise.

" So how's the going, I've been away for long and I can see some changes in the office too"

" Yeah ,you right by the way, Amanda and Henry were transferred too, I heard they went to work for Kyle, in the restaurant I guess, they were promoted, you know they've been working for this company for a while now"

" Yeah they deserve the promotion actually"

I say back to her as we order for our food

" So how's the going between you and Kyle, I can see you so much into each other which is a good move"

" Mmh I can see where you are headed to, but don't worry we good if that is the definition of how well I can put it"

" Seems you hiding so much girl,you can't just say you good like how and the way you're glowing"

When she says that, I know she's up to no good from the way she's shooting her questions at me and  I immediately know I must be extra careful when answering her back

" What do you think I'm hiding c'mon Caren what else  do you wanna know?" I ask her and she frowns

" Nothing much Nicky you know we've been friends since you started working here and knowing how my best friend is fairing on ain't a bad idea"

"  My best friend I see, tell me Caren you've never bothered to check on me after all the happenings in my life ever since that business trip, I was involved in a fatal car accident but you never came to check on me and you claiming to be my friend you really suck and acting"

I direct that to her and she tenses but quickly recomposes herself and moves uncomfortably on her seat to adjust her sitting position

" You know what Nicky you're my friend and I'm sorry for not checking up on you, I've been kinda busy and held up despite when I came to visit you, I found out that you guys already moved out so I had no other choice than to wait for you to come back to the office"

She says and I narrow my eyes to her, she such an idiot to think that I can buy her lies,to hell with her pretentious look. But I have to act smart to get some more information about what she's up to.

The private investigator I employed a few months ago said , she seems to be working close to Natalie so I should keep close tabs on her, meanwhile I have to act super careful for her not to suspect anything.

" It's okay Caren but you could have at least called me ,you have my number don't you?"

" Nope, I lost my phone a few months ago while at the club so I had to renew my line and buy another line"

"It's okay let's not dwell on the past let's focus on what we have now,  and this is us I'm happy I finally came back and we gonna have lots of fun times together"

" Yes you right, by the way, why don't you want to use your own car to work, Kyle bought you a new sports car but I've never seen you enjoying rides in it, you can use it to come to work you know and sometimes give me a ride back home"

She says that and winks at me but I already have an answer for that.

" Ooh that, I gave it to Maya when she was traveling to her parent's home and she has not returned it yet, she's my friend and I thought it'd save her much if she uses it to her workplace, Kyle can be driving me here, it'll be less costly"

" Wow you really have a good heart Nicky I wish I had a sister like you, that's good of you"

" Of course you're my sister, my friends are always like sisters to me, so are you"

" Thank you ,so currently you staying with Kyle, that's a good move in your relationship it's good to be together you know"

" Yeah I'm happy I've finally met a guy who loves me like Kyle, and I love him back with the same intensity he's just my knight in shining armor"

I say proudly at the mention of Kyle's name and secretly steal a glance at her, she frowns and immediately covers up the frown with a simple fake smile.

" Really I'm happy for you girl,by the way did Kyle tell you about Natalie's visit at the office last week, she was here and as far good friend I thought you should know that, you know just in case Kyle forgot to mention that to you"

I can see where she is headed to and despite the fact that Kyle told me nothing about the visit I just want her to know that I trust Kyle

" Yeah he told me, it was a family thing"

"Ooh that's great a good relationship is based on trust"

After we done with our lunch, we head back to the office and I swear to ask Kyle about Natalie's visit,I want to know if she's telling me the truth or not, I know Kyle will never fail to tell me such a thing in case it happened.

" Bitch I know what you're up to and I swear to God I'll prove you wrong and before long I'll prove to the world how wicked you are, just wait for me to strike back and trust me when I do you won't like it either"

I say more to myself as I press the elevator button to my office floor
