DESTINED

CHAPTER 26

It's been exactly three days ever since we came back from Ethiopia. Nicole is doing quite fine and we're officially a couple. If anyone told me that I'd be dating Nicole in three months time , I would've argued.

Come to think of our backgrounds, totally different,her personality, character and her general outward behavior is something that makes me cringe in fear,she is not approachable but ever since she confessed to liking me on out first day of meeting,for the first time I believe and agree with those people who say fate might bring the unexpected together.

We've been having a normal work relationship but  I do visit her from now and then in fact I literally begged her to let me drive her home, because she fucking refused my suggestion of buying her a car, she's yet to know what's in store for her.

Sometimes I wish I had the courage to approach her and tell her what my suggestion is, I would've liked her moving in with me,I know that sounds odd but I wanna sleep and wake up next to her pretty face, one thing I came to learn is that she's very close to Maya, she's like a family to her and taking her to stay with me will be a selfish idea.

I brush off that idea and try to focus on the current situation at hand.
I approached Maya and she agreed to help me plan a surprise birthday party for my girl. She'll be turning twenty-three today and I'm so happy for her, the age gap ain't that bad,I'm twenty-five.

I sneaked out today during lunch time and told Nicole I was meeting some old friend of mine in town,of course it's not part of my today's schedule but she can't know I'm meeting her flatmate, best friend Maya.

We agreed to meet in a certain restaurant and plan the big event. I'm in town within fifteen minutes and Maya doesn't disappoint me either,she's seated on the furthest table at the corner of the restaurant.

We exchange pleasantries and go straight to business, she orders cold orange juice and I do the same,we sip as  we discuss about today's event.
We go through everything we need and  she gives me the list ,I give her the cash and tell her to call me once she's done. With that I head back to the office.

I've been busy today ever since we came  back from   the so called business trip, I'm still recovering but I can't miss work today. It's something I just can't miss, I'm always committed so abandoning work in the name of resting will be uncouth for me. Even after Kyle begged me to stay at home for at least one week i told him off and came to work.

Chatted with Caren today during lunch and she congratulated and wished me the best,but Kyle went to meet an old friend of his.

When time to leave reaches ,Kyle walks to my desk and peck me on the cheeks.
"Baby I'm hurrying somewhere before it's late,I don't know if you can call for an Uber to take you home or you'll wait for me that's if you're not in a hurry"
"Ooh no problem, I'll just call an Uber to take me home,I don't want to keep you waiting plus I'll be giving you much work" I say as i adjust his tie and give him a brief kiss on his lips.
"Okay baby have safe travels, we'll talk later?"
"Yeah okay babe"
He walks out to the private elevators and I also follow him behind and before I can make any step my phone vibrates  from my  handbag.
I fish it out and Maya's name is on the screen.
" Hey girl Whatsap?"
" I was calling to ask if you're already out of your work place, I'd like to meet you in town there's something I want you to help me with"
"Ooh yeah I was just heading out ,about to call an Uber to take me home"
"Just take an Uber and  meet me at Tuskys supermarket I'm waiting for you"
" Okay sure on my way"
I head out and scroll on my phone and order for an  Uber and wait at the gate, the office compound is almost deserted except for a few individuals moving up and down.

After ten minutes, the Uber arrives and I direct him to where I'm supposed to meet with Maya, after about ten minutes I alight and pay and I spot Maya just at the entrance of the supermarket.

"Hey I'm here so whatsap?"
" Don't worry, just follow me, Adrian suggested I meet him up and I decided to tag you along"
" Really Maya, you could have just told me you're tagging me along, you sounded like you needed some help"
" Yeah I'm sorry honey, this is what I wanted you to help me out"
I follow her behind and she walks straight to Serena hotel and I grab her hands
" Maya where are we heading to, is Adrian waiting for you here, is it like a dinner date or what?"
" Relax honey, just follow me"
We walk for a few minutes and head to the elevators, she presses the 8th floor and  I stare at her blankly. Once on the 8th floor, she pushes the first door on the right and it's dark inside
" Maya what are we doing here,what is happening, is there anything you hiding from me?"
She doesn't answer so I follow hesitantly, she suddenly stops and I almost trip and fall but she helps me out
Someone switches on the lights and I hear everyone shout
" Happy birthday Nicole!"
There is Kyle,Maya, Caren , Dwain,Adrian , my colleagues and some of Maya's friends. I stand there still staring and Kyle approaches me,
" Happy birthday my love"
" You mean you did all this for me?",
" Yes baby, anything for my love, and that's not enough"
He gives me car keys and hold my hands and I follow him go the window
"That car is my birthday gift for you"
It's brand new Lamborghini with my name at the number plate
" Thanks babe" I hug him whilst tears of happiness  flowing freely on my cheeks.
It's Friday ,so we party almost the whole night. Kyle drives me to his place and I end up spending the night at his place, he organised for my car to be taken at my place .
