DESTINED

CHAPTER 58

I'm at dad's place in a few minutes and I walk straight to the door, I press the door bell and one of the maidens opens the door for me.

I walk straight to the couch and ask for a glass of cold water.

My dad walks in a few minutes later  and I walk towards him and greet him.

" Hey dad"

"Hey son"

" It's been a tough day for me, can I just change and join you, I have a lot to tell you"

" Sure son I'll be in my study, call for me once you done"

" Okay dad"

With that I rush upstairs to my old room, it's on the furthest end of the corridor.

I walk in and I find it clean ,with some of my clothes hanged in the walk in closet, the bed is neatly spread and the room is spectacularly clean and dustless.

Thanks to the maidens.

I walk to the bathroom and stand in the shower, as the lukewarm water Cascades down my back, the events of the day run through my mind.

Everything seems to have happened in just  a  few days and it could have changed my life generally.

I don't realise I'm in the shower for that long until I hear my dad calling me from my room.

"Son is everything okay, you have been in they bathroom for thirty minutes, are you okay?"

" Ooh yeah dad I was just finishing up"

" Okay son, hurry up the food is already set, you must be hungry right now, I'm waiting up for you"

After he has walked out I wipe myself dry and   walk back in the room , I choose a casual back fitting T-shirt and dark blue faded jeans, I put on my black converse .

I drop the dirty clothes in the laundry bucket, I know it'll be taken care off

I grab my car keys and my phone and head out.

I join my dad on the dining table and serve myself, the food is taken silently with everyone engrossed in their  own thoughts

After that, we head back to the living room .

I go on telling my dad of how things went and as I'm still telling him about Cate's story the door bell rings and I stand up to go answer the door.

It's Jayden at the door and behind him is another guy with a a shaken Cate.

I pave way for him but the guy hesitates

" Ain't you going to join us in?" I ask him

" Thank you sir but I was just helping Jayden here, there's something I need to attend to"

"Okay thank you "

He walks away and I turn my attention to Cate and give her the  'really look' and she give me the ' I'm sorry' look
We walk together to the living room to join my dad and the moment dad sees Cate, he stands up and walks towards her with anger clearly showing on his face ,he is gritting his teeth and I know better than Confronting him, he gives her a thunderous slap and leaves us with mighty gasps

" You bitch how dare you wanna kill my daughter-in-law after everything I've done for you and your family"

" I'm so sorry Mr Parker but it wasn't my fault please let me explain"

"You better have a good explanation for that, otherwise I'll kill you right now and no one will dare ask me anything, you have exactly two minutes"

I motion Jayden to take  a seat and I resume my earlier position, dad walks back to his seat and Cate remains standing and I pity her.

Although she was about to kill Nicole, the love of my life ,but I won't let that fake look change the hatred I have for her, I just want to hear her boring part of the story and go back to the hospital ,I want to be with her, she needs me .

" Kyle,I'm so sorry for what I have put you through ,I Know I did wrong but what I'm about to say does not justify my mistakes, I've know you guys for long now and I can't deny the fact that you have made me where I am today, your dad has been the most helpful person in my life, he has made me what I am today, but I slipped, I almost lost every trust you guy had on me, so yesterday I got a call from Natalie I was on duty yesterday, she told me she had a task for me and I had to accomplish it for her whether I liked it or not, it was just a few minutes after I had arrived at that warehouse where Kyle had summoned me to, she wanted me to kill Nicole since Kyle had trusted me with her life , she wanted me to kill her before we reached the hospital but my conscience wouldn't allow that , I promised to finish up my task while at the hospital, she was holding my two kids at hostage telling me that if I don't finish up my task she won't hesitate shoot them in the head, as a mother I had no choice that to do what was the best for my kids, but unfortunately Jayden had overheard everything and he rescued Nicole, please Mr Parker forgive me, Kyle forgive me"

By the time she's done narrating I feel sorry for her, I mean it wasn't her entire fault but she would have at least called or informed one of us.

" Cate although what you were trying to do was uncouth and against the law, I forgive you but I will never forget what you did, but then you should apologize to Nicole herself, I have no grudge with you" I say to her as tears stream down her face.

" Cate I've known you for a while now and I never believed you'd fall a victim of Natalie, you were in a dilemma and you did what any other sane parent would have done, I'm sorry for the way I reacted, I forgive you too but find time and ask Nicole for forgiveness, you deserve the peace of mind". Dad says and I marvel at that

Just then my phone vibrates and I fish it out to find Maya's name on flashing in the screen

" Hey Maya watsap?"

"You're needed at the hospital right now"

She hangs up before I can say anything.
