CHAPTER 41

A visit  to Granny's

It's early in the morning, being a Saturday, Kyle is still sleeping soundly besides me. He has a long day yesterday and I don't want to wake him up yet.

Kyle wants to take me to his granny's place and I'm super excited to meet them. My grandma died when I was still young and I didn't get the chance to meet them.

Shillah told me their granny is awesome and lovable and I'll love her from the moment I set my eyes on her. I'm anxiously waiting to meet her.

So Kyle's granny's place is in karabaini in kiambu county, which is no far from Nairobi so it'll be a few minutes drive to there.

I once heard my late dad say they were born in murimo village in kiambu county but they later moved to Nakuru after his dad purchased land in Nakuru and they settled there. And that's how we found ourselves in Nakuru.

I guess maybe Kyle's village might be near to mine anyway I'll find out once we reach there.

I walk to the washroom just adjacent Kyle's master bedroom.

I fill the bathtub an proceed to brush my teeth. Once I'm done I proceed to take a shower.

I'm in the kitchen within a few minutes. I'm preparing tea when Shillah walks in

" Morning in law"

"You're funny Shee, morning too, how was your night"

"Don't even ask, I slept like a baby today, my night was fucking great"

" You like cussing that's a thing with highschool kids"

" I just turned 18 last month and you calling me a kid in fact I'm almost your age"

" You wish, even if I died today, you'll never be my age"

" It's okay but at least we fall in the same age group of 18-25" she says and I laugh at that

" Jeez Shee stop comparing me to yourself, you still got like 7 years to be of my age"

" Okay okay you win, whats for breakfast?"

" Was preparing some tea, pancakes and eggs"

" Wow my favorite and Kyle's too, I can see you're already playing wifey role, you two should just get married already I want to be called aunty soon before I fly to the states"

" Wooah, look at who's talking, you go take a shower you stinking"

" I know I don't but consider what I told you or I'll talk to Kyle about that if you don't want to tell him"

She says and Kyle clears his throat behind her.

I face palm myself thinking maybe Kyle over heard our little chat.

I'm not saying I'm afraid to marry Kyle but I just think I'm not ready for that marriage thing, I'm not ready to have kids and change diapers it just sounds so soon.

" Mmh tell me what , I'm I missing something?"

" No you not ,we were just having girl's time" I try to save the situation but Shee winks at me and I know she's not going to keep her mouth shut.

Kyle walks towards me and wraps his arms around my waist and kisses me on my lips

" Morning beautiful, you sneaked out on me again"

He says and Shee clears her throat noiseless .

" Hey guys get a room already, don't you think you showing a bad picture of you making out in front of me I'm still young you know"

Kyle sticks out his tongue at her and I show the middle finger naughtily

" Relax Lil sis it's not like you've never kissed before , despite this is my house my rules and besides me is the love of my life"

Kyle says proudly and I blush

" Wooah look at who's blushing, you two disgust me already and you should marry I want to see my nieces and nephews"

When she says that I tense beside Kyle and he notices that.

He moves me towards him and hugs me tightly until when Shee disappears upstairs, just what I wanted

" Baby you don't want to marry me or what is it tell me"

" No it's not like that, I wanna marry you too but don't you think it's too early for that, I mean we just started dating it's almost one year, I'm just not ready to become a mother"

" Relax, even if you take the whole time to decide, I'll still be here waiting for you babe, I love you and I'm willing to wait for as long as you don't leave me, despite even if we married we don't have to get kids soon I just want the world to know you're mine"

I feel safe in his hands when he says that and I nod in agreement. I just realize that marriage is not all about having kids, we can still be married and agree with him on the perfect time to have kids.

After breakfast, we're with Kyle in the car ready to head to his home place, he says it has been like 3years since he last saw his grandma.

He already called and informed her we are on our way to her place and she's super excited more so when Kyle said he's bringing me along.

We bid Shee  goodbye, she agreed to remain behind and she asked Kyle if she can bring her friends over and he agreed on condition they behave.

We're driving at moderate speed from the compound. And something funny I'm not tensed like when I was while meeting Kyle's mom.

We first stop in town , do shopping , I help Kyle push the trolley and after we've pain we're helped by the supermarket attendants to put the shopping in the back of the car.

Kyle drives off out of town as we head towards his place.

Withing 2hours we're driving in the interior of some villages and I decide to ask Kyle if he knows karabaini village.

" By the way babe, do you happen to know karabaini village?"

"Yeah it's our neighbouring village , why"

"Nothing, I was just told by dad that that was there original homeland before they moved to Nakuru"

" Wow so you're my neighbor this is some good news maybe grandma knows your family let's reach and I'll try asking her"

After a few minutes we drive through a large gate which is opened by a gate man. The compound is beautiful and has a well trimmed fence and the house a large permanent house

Kyle drives and parks beside some other cars and rushes to open my car door.

Once we step out we walk towards the house but we're met a familiar face half way to the main house. I blink severally to see if I'm dreaming or it's the reality.
