CHAPTER 14

“So, are we complete?”

“We're complete. I already checked the attendance,” Ate Arlene answered habang isa-isa kaming tingnan. “Secretary my ass!” She added, rolling her eyes.

“So kaya ko kayo pinatawag ngayon dahil may mga announcement ako for the team,” Ate Jmie started. "First, we will be having our election for officers. The only position that we are looking for are my co-captain, secretary, PIO, and Representatives for Seniors, Sophomore and Freshmens. Coach also told me na I can open the table for my co-captain kahit anong year level. It's not necessary though.”

I tried my best to focus on what Ate Jmie is saying kahit na ang isip ko ay kung saan-saang lupalop na ng Pilipinas naglalakbay. I'm not totally sober pa kaya sumasakit pa ang ulo ko. Napakadami kong tanong at bakit sa isip ko, but I couldn't figure it out for myself. I'm still clueless... And broken.

“So let's start the election! Any nominees?” Everyone looked at each other like they are pointing out who will be our first nominee at medyo nakaka-kaba dahil hindi mo alam ang takbo ng isip ng bawat isa.

“I nominate Heaven Emerald Gozon for our team co-captain,” Ate Arlene suddenly said na siyang ikinagulat ko. "Since napag-usapan na naming mga seniors 'to kanina at walang may gustong maging co-captain sa amin kaya nag-decide kami na sa lower level na lang pumili,” paliwanag niya pa.

"I closed the nomination for team co-captain!" Ate Faye suddenly raised her hand, looking at me while smiling.

I could even feel my chest beating so fast. Kinakabahan ako na ewan. I am happy, but I just can't help to feel the doubt. Kaya ko ba?

“I would like to introduce to you, our team co-captain, Heaven Emerald Gozon!” Ate Jmie announced and she even called me sa unahan para maging katulong niya sa meeting and for formality.

When you looked for it on the other side, it has a big effect on me. Natupad ang pangarap ko na makapasok sa team, hindi lang 'yon, naging co-captain pa ako and this achievement made me feel the fire of wanting to prove myself more.

I'm blessed!

Nag-patuloy ang election until makompleto ang set of officers. “So we're settle. I would like to proceed for my second announcement,” Ate Jmie smiled and you can sense the excitement all over her face. “My second announcement is all about our training. The schedule of our training are only MWF after class. Are you good with that?”

“Yes Captain,” we answered.

“And lastly, we will be having our camping this coming weekend in Calatagan Batangas. I expect big from all of you. I want everyone to come and participate. Makakasama natin ang players ng ibang sports category,” She continued as we all nodded.

“Emerald, maiwan ka dito after meeting. May pag-uusap tayo at imemeet ka ni Coach. Meeting adjourned!”

“Mica, Alice, mauna na kayo, ah. Im-meet daw ako ni Coach today,” I told the two dahil it's already lunch time and I don't want them to wait that long.

“Okay, Sissy. Congrats ulit!” Mica kissed my cheeks at hinila na si Alice paalis.

I sat down on the couch at maya-maya pa, tumabi na sa akin si Ate Jmie at pumasok na 'yung mga seniors na naiwan din. I still have no clue sa pagiging co-captain that's why kinakabahan ako. It's my first time and medyo napressure agad ako.
